I took my 2014 Zero S in to my dealer for its 600 mile inspection today and on the way there I noticed (for the first time) that the instrument display had a large, but somewhat indistinct, "V" rainbow covering most of the panel. It shows up both when the bike is on and when it is off. I had the shop technician look at it and he agreed that it wasn't just my eyes. So I had them make a note of that issue on the work order. While it is noticeable, it is not interfering with viewing the display. But I sure am going to keep an eye on it to see if it gets any worse. Today it was dry and sunny with the morning temperature at 50 degrees F. I sure hope this isn't a design or component selection issue.
The inspection cost me $100, which I believe is the shop's minimum labor charge. Other than checking things over I was told that the only adjustment performed was adjusting the belt tension.

Could it be humidity inside the panel. Happened to me on my Beemer... went away eventually after a few hot days

I have a slight rainbow when the sun hits the display it could be normal maybe something to do with the LCD?

Oddly, my rainbow only shows up in the shade. When direct sunlight hits the screen I can't see it. ???

Some LCD screens have a polarising filter over the display, you could be seeing refractions from the filter perhaps?
I've also seen this effect in perspex sheets as well, especially ones which have almost invisible stress lines in them, the stress lines act as mini prisms which split the light.
Its a lot less likely that the rainbow effect is in the LCD itself however.
