I am sooooo happy for you folks.
And I can reconsider to emigrate to Australia?
-
Awesome, there will be a few very happy forum members with this news!
-
The Awesome and happy may not be happening, emails about prices show the bikes to be about Au$8500 more than US and Europe. Note: no official prices yet on zeromotorcycles/au website or facebook page, but multiple people posting same price from email after contacting Australian Distributor, all comment on forums, FB from potential buyers are no way at these prices. I hope this pricing is incorrect and official pricing matches same as the rest of the world.
Australia signed the (un)Fair Trade agreement with the USA and has no local motorcycle manufacturing to protect.
We expected a small price difference but not what shown below.
Vehicles over 30 years old & Motorcycles: 0% Duty + 10% Gst

Zero Motorcycles Australia will provide committed sales and service to the Australian public from the following motorcycle retailers, with more to be announced in the coming months:
Central Coast Cycles (New South Wales)
Mototecnic Performance Bikes (Victoria)
Moto Arena (Queensland)
Shearwater Motorcycles (Tasmania)
Zero Motorcycles Australia will be importing the full model range of ground breaking Zero products in power configurations geared toward the performance orientated Australian market at the following National Ride Away Pricing:
ZERO S 8.5 $20,490

ZERO DS 11.4 $23,490

Zero Motorcycles are a truly new value proposition: sleek, conceptual and aggressive. Our nostalgia for motorcycling has been reconfigured by Zero and the visual aggression of the minimal chassis has been informed by the search for a pure riding experience. Each motorcycle has been engineered in California (USA) and tested in tough conditions similar to Australia. These motorcycles offer the premium experience of speed, emotion, and acceleration, without the exhaustion of ongoing costs of ownership.
The flagship Zero SR has now reached exhilarating levels of consumer performance including 0-100kms in 3.3 seconds, up to 270kms city range, 144 Nm of torque and 67hp.
Never again replace the clutch, check the engine oil, adjust valve clearance, change filters, or replace spark plugs. Petrol fumes will not hinder your experience and other regular maintenance items associated with ICE bikes can be forgotten forever.
Zero Motorcycles Australia has landed the Zero Motorcycles range including the SR, S, DS and FX.
Please visit the Zero Motorcycles Australia website for additional information and contact your nearest Zero Motorcycles Australia Authorized Dealer to book a test ride that will change your perception of performance electric vehicles.

They cost more after all. I guess the profit margin is negative when selling in Australia.
-
Wre are expected to pay an extra au$5K , Canada has 13% GST, Australia 10% GST, our exchange rate is similar.
also there are no tarrifs or duties on motorbikes.
so much for the unFair Trade Agrreement with USA.

Do the "National Ride away" prices include all the un-boxing, setup, importing, shipping and handling, and taxes and registration fees? I suspect that even en the USA you end up paying more than $1000 in those sorts of fees from dealers and local governments.

It is true. I paid something like $450 for shipping and set-up, plus 9% state sales tax, DMV fees of several hundred dollars, plus an electronic filing fee and probably a couple of other fees that were slipped in when I wasn't looking. ::) It all added up to over $2000 over MSRP, as I recall.
