Figured may as well make a post even if no one wants to let go of their bike =D
I did contact my local dealer to see if they had any in stock via their online "request a quote" form on the 9th and they haven't got back to me yet. If you want to sell your bike, have a clean title in hand, and are willing to work with a shipping company if not local then I am interested.
I have big plans for the bike as I already have a 'last vetter fairing' waiting to go on it. I plan on taking detailed notes to track the mileage change as the bike gets more streamlined. There is also going to be a ton of video and photos taken of the process so it can be duplicated easier by others.
No DS owner need apply as the extra ~10 miles is to important to me for my project and the extra height is a non starter with a streamliner. If I want to go off road I will take it off road with street tires on it just like I do with my 03 ninja 250 :)
If anyone has other resources to find used zeros outside an aggregate page which searches for all ebay bikes that would be greatly appreciated.

Exactly what is involved in sending a vehicle from CA to the US?

Go to this page from the CBP:
http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/trade/basic_trade/importing_car.xml (http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/trade/basic_trade/importing_car.xml)
They have everything laid out in there, most of the information assumes you are importing a foreign made vehicle.
Since the vehicle is electric, that solves the EPA issues. As far safety systems go, you have to make clear in your documentation that the vehicle is made in USA and already conforms. A letter form the manufacturer helps a lot.
What is left is the title document, Canada does not use one like the US, the license/ownership document is used instead.
You will have to find out what the replacement is in your case.

I just emailed Eric at Mitchell Cycle and he says he can ship to most US cities for $250. You might want to just contact him and get info right from the source. He has experience with this already.

Eric quoted back a price of 13k (I will assume CAD which is 12k USD) shipped for a low miles . But I didn't want to have to deal with the paperwork of getting it titled and registered and then have to pay federal import taxes on top of my state registration tax.
Going to buy one of Electric Cowboy race bikes instead for the same price. Size 6 controller, vented motor, and many many more modifications which will make it work better as a vetter streamlined bike.

Hmmm...bigger controller? sounds like fun!! The only thing stopping me from getting a ds or s is that fun factor
