Hi guys
I have an excellent new for those who live in CANADA and would like to buy a ZERO from the US !!
I saw on ebay a great deal with a DS 2013 un Utah and wondered if there is still the big problem about importing a Zero to Canada like we had past years. In fact it was impossible to import a Zero from the US to Canada due to the absence of mention of ZERO in the Registrar of Import Vehicule ( that famous RIV list)
I wanted this morning to check if it is still not up to date and finally i saw it actually was !!!
That mean all zero build from 2010 and after can be imported by customers to Canada !!!
It seem that Transport Canada did their homework !! and are now allowing us to import these great Zero. In the past it was only the Zero Canada representative that was allowed to do that.

Wow wish I would have seen this before I got my 2013 ds mapleton is about 10 minutes away from me would have saved me about 5 grand

How would you deal with registration and sales taxes? Would the US dealer just not charge you taxes and you would take the info to your tax assessor and license branch to get the tags and pay sales/provincial taxes? Are there import taxes too?

Wow, that is a pretty great deal.

The process has already been worked out, the dealer on the US side charges no taxes as the vehicle is meant for export.
The title has to be faxed to US customs 24hrs ahead of crossing at the US-CAN border.
Then as the vehicle crosses the border into Canada the paperwork is started at the Canadian border.
The vehicle has to undergo a safety inspection, then it can be licensed in Canada, and the license fees/taxes are paid.
I've done this several times...
It can be real pain until the whole process is figured out.

Hi Pierre,
I guess that you never transfered any Zero form the Us in Canada yet ? The RIV only have the Zero brand listed since few month or maybe weeks. It was impossible to get any Zero to Canada unless you are Kent Aubichon or Glenn Wakefield ( Canadian Zero manager) that have specail autorization with Transport Canada.

You are correct Doc,
I have imported cars and trucks, but never a zero.
Now that they are listed on RIV, it is possible.
The process is the same as for a car though.
