Something that people may find useful: Recently I've started using a C14/C13 splitter I found online (http://www.rackmountpdu.com/Products/835-c14-to-c13-y-splitter-cord.aspx) to run two chargers for my 2012 Zero S (the internal charger and one external charger) from a single J1772 port, using the official Zero J1772 adapter. This lets me charge at 2x speed at locations that have one J1772 port and nothing else, such as my church, and at locations with multiple J1772 ports and nothing else without having to buy a second J1772 adapter. (The official adapter is ridiculously overpriced, but I wasn't able to find a viable alternative.) I've tested the setup with ChargePoint, Blink, and ClipperCreek J1772 stations. Here's a photo of the setup at a ChargePoint station:

I dont know how Zero justify the outrageous pricing of their adaptor. Im thinking of making my own just for the fun of it, I never charge away from home.
Could you not mount the J1772 socket on the bike and then just have a trailing lead to connect the second charger when required? Or have the second socket under the seat so you can easily connect your second charger and leave it in the tail pack?

I believe that on the charger in the photograph, there is a 120V outlet under the corrugated panel between the display and the support for the
J1772 cable. When you swipe your card, or, access by phone, it releases so that you can just lift it, plug in your standard cable, and charge.
Since standard, the Zero doesn't allow faster charging with the J1772 adapter, this would be an option to use the public chargers. Not sure how
you would run two chargers from here, but, this is at least a no cost option.

Thanks to Harlan at Hollywood Electrics, I just started using 2 Elcon 2.5kW chargers via 1 J1772 charger and it now takes just under 2 hrs from zero to full on my 2012 Zero S. Good times!

How do you carry them benswing? I wonder if a single elcon would mount in place of the stock charger.

Terry chopped 1" off of the heatsink on a 2.5 kW Elcon and stuffed it where the stock charger is mounted. He may have also modified the mounting, though..

I wouldn't chop off the heatsink. Its there for a reason, to cool the charger. even if the charger is 90% efficient, at 2500W, that's 250W of just heat. If you don't allow the heat to leave the power components there's no telling if it will fail or not. Terry doesn't mind pushing the limits though.... lol

he is only talking about cutting off an inch from a very large heatsink. Unless you regularly charge in an equatorial rainforest you will be fine.

It's just a disclaimer.... I personally wouldn't do it..... but feel free to cut it off. Just don't whine if it fails/overheats.
