Richard this is the idea, use a hub motor you know the wider the coil and magnet diameter the more torque you can produce ;D

So it will be an acceleration beast! :o

That reminds me:  In yesterday's newspaper there was a short article about a commuter who was riding on a bike path in Mountain View, CA on his electric-assisted, 15-mph regulated, bicycle and got kicked off the path by a town parks ranger.  He was told that an electric, or an electric-assisted, bicycle was not allowed on the city's bike paths (although they are allowed within other cities that the path ran through) - even if the electric assist was not being used and the bike was just being pedaled with only leg power.   ???
