Title: Zero dirt racing video
Post by: Richard230 on April 09, 2013, 04:01:04 AM: Here is a link to an 8-minute long Zero promotional video showing an apparently skilled Zero rider riding in an AMA enduro race:

Zero MX 2012 racing against open-class gas bikes in the AMA Phantom Harescramble (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PHKXP_YA40s#ws)

It looks like he got much of his traction by riding over fallen riders. ;)

I don't remember how much or where int he podcast, but I do remember talking about it.

Nope, my memory was wrong. I just re-listened to the interview and I didn't hear anything specifically about that race. My apologies.

seems like there was a serious "falling over" issue on some parts there, maybe fumbling with clutch and gears then dropping speed? the Zero sure didn't have that issue.

Post by: CliC on April 09, 2013, 10:40:43 PM: I've seen that video, and am surprised it didn't spike Zero MX sales. The way the rider found space where there seemingly was none is incredible. And the time or two he's yelling at the IC pushers to get out of the way is priceless :) Makes me want to put some knobbies on the DS. Or get an FX.

given an even "hot start" the beginning of the race could have looked a lot different.."

That would explain the delayed start as they either had to be kick started or electric started.
Zero only had to turn the throttle.

I think the real difference is that the Zero rider was a pro and certainly a much better rider than the poor fellows that he was using for traction. When I visited the factory, there was a hired-gun rider leaning against the wall when Terry and I were introduced to the Zero employees. He was said to be a top movie stunt rider. It could have been him riding the Zero in the video. That would certainly explain his rapid progress. ;D
