Title: Theft?

Okay, so my GL1800 weighs almost a thousand pounds, so I don't worry too much about it being stolen.  But, the Zero S I have on order weighs less than half that.  Should I be concerned about it being stolen? Could something like a lo-Jack be installed?  Can someone recommend a good lock?

I'm wondering the same thing, as I will likely soon be riding mine around the 4th largest US city. It's certainly light enough for two guys to throw into a pickup. Whether they can fence it for anything is another matter :)

In my opinion, the best approach to theft prevention is to use a cheap motorcycle cover (no brand name), and use a small lock under the bike to keep the cover secure.  Out of sight, out of mind.  A chain wrapped around the bike's frame and secured to a nearby immovable object, or wrapped around the frame and rear wheel, will secure the bike from a casual joy rider, but nothing you can carry will stop a professional thief. I do not recommend a disc lock as they are too easy to forget (or in the case of a joy rider, not see) and if you try to ride off without removing it, you and your bike will fall over and the caliper may be damaged ($$$).

It doesn't matter if they are able to fence it or not, it will still be stolen...  Something tells me they won't be bringing it back if they can't unload it.

I don't think very many motorcycles get "fenced".  Most are taken for joy rides and crashed, or parked when they run out of gas.  The pros steal them to part them out.  Personally, I don't think electric motorcycles are going to be much of a theft magnet unless gas prices really skyrocket and they get a lot of favorable press. I'll bet most thieves are kind of scared that they will be electrocuted if they try to steal one.  Maybe putting a "Warning, Danger, High Voltage " sticker on the bike might help to keep the scum away.   ;D

I just got back from New Orleans. Before I went I called my Allstate guy to make sure my insurance was good there. With the new 2013s coming out I was not really too worried but I went ahead and chained it to a post and covered it with a cheap cover from JC Whitney. After being there a month (upper 9th ward) I did come home still the owner of a 2012 Zero.
