Anyone know if the 9kw battery will fit the 6kw 2012's? Are there any other differences besides batteries and weight?

I believe so, the case is the same size. The BMS must be reconfigured for the additional module (ZF9 is 3 ZF3 modules, ZF6 is 2 modules) and temperature sensors, etc would have to be wired up.

My thoughts were to find someone selling their used 9kw and offer them $2,500 to swap the needed parts for $2,500.00 that way they could sell their bike for $2,500.00 less and reach thinner wallets while I extend the range on a bike I like?

I would think many ZF9 owners posting their bikes for sale would take you up on the offer.
Depending on location, it might be easier to swap bikes than to swap battery packs.

I know what you mean about tradeing but I have the California Rebate where I am suposed to refund the state if I sell it (or apply the rebate to a new one). I am doing a road trip to Florida so I can look anywhere in between.

I just learned from Harlan that they have the same battery box and the 9 has 3 sets of batteries with the 6 having 2. It sounds like it is just a matter of buying another 3 kw battery to drop in and some skill.
