Here is a link to a short article about a new company that rents small Chinese electric scooters to tourists so they can see the sights in Beijing, China, while riding on battery power. They also provide group tours with an English-speaking guide. Seems kind of pricy to me for what you get and where you are. But then I am not one of their potential customers.
