Title: Ev related info to clear up confusion of petrol heads disinformation
Post by: Electric Cowboy on May 23, 2012, 02:32:52 AM
I know this is not Motorcycle related, but the information this guy gives is really amazing, and I think we could all use some of the facts he tells when dealing with those die hard petrol heads that try to argue anything other than tradition and noise against Electric Bikes

I am going to send that video to one of my granddaughters. I think she will find it interesting.

I'm not sure that guy's initial expression does anything but encourage people to call the police. "Don't mind those electromagnetic fields; they don't hurt you at all" :)

The key point I think he makes is electric vehicles' flexibility in energy sources. I haven't watched the "light entertainment program" he refers to, but it sounds like it was a bit ludicrous. Perhaps a lot of people have those perceptions.

Also, the Tesla is by far the finest example of 4-wheeled electric tech. I'd happily drive one, if I could get one for 1/3 to 1/2 of what they actually cost. Most other electric cars pale by comparison, and involve making sacrifices relative to ICE ones.

Seriously, I haven't run across anyone who thought I was the lowest life form on earth for riding an elmoto. They may say it's not for them, and they're often right (due to range requirements or whatever). But everyone who has commented about the bike has been polite, and many are interested, if not ready to go buy one. Maybe I'm just lucky.

The presenter was speaking about "Top Gear", who in one eposide a few years ago burned the tires off an early model Tesla sports car and then claimed that it was useless as a sports car when they said it ran out of power while being hammered on their track. Those guys just don't like electric vehicles and like to poke fun at them. The car they hate the most is the "G-Wiz" which is apparently an electric Smart Car sold in the U.K., or something very similar.
