I don't think 43 miles on a Dyno (the EPA test) gives any idea what we will experience in the real world.
My experiences (max 72 km hypermiling at 25 km/h, min 30 km riding normally in an urban setting) seem to match everyone else's real world experiences.

I'm sure that if you build a 4 kWh bike based on an FZ you will have to ride in a way that doesn't mix with normal traffic to make 25 miles without flattening the battery or requiring an excessive charge. Most lithiums prefer to not be charged more than 90% or discharged to lower than 20% giving 70% of the nominal rating as a usable value.

I noticed that comment about going for a ride within a 40-mile radius. That would definitely have been a one-way trip. The ride back would have been in the back of a truck.
