Quick question. Has anyone converted a gas scooter to electric motor by attaching the motor to the constant volocity transmission? Most I've seen are direct drive motor with sprocket to rear wheel sprocket. I'm wondering if having the motor connected to the cvt would allow extra top end for going on the highway by acting as a multiplier for the motor's speed? I have a chinese gas scooter that if the motor fails I had thought of bolting up a electric motor directly to the CVT. What say you? thanks, rj

A group of engineers that worked for me converted one over back in 2001 but because of a "thermal event" didn't get much riding in. Your top end is a result of the final drive gear ratio and the rpm of the motor. You'd have to do some math to determine theoretical max speed.
