Tragic. Matt was a friendly, open, sharing soul. One article I read said that his mother was killed near this same intersection in 2007 when she was hit by a truck while riding her bicycle.

I would have loved to see what Matt accomplished over the next few decades. He made a huge impression and accomplished so much in just one TTXGP season.
brammofan, did not hear that about his mother dying in the same intersection. Looking forward to figuring out how this crazy world ticks one day.

Yes, she was killed less than a mile from where Matt died. She was hit/run over by a trash truck making a right turn without looking where he was turning.
Also, FYI
I've set up a fund in memory of Matt.

This is to help his family and friends with any funeral arrangements, fees, etc. Whatever is left I'd like to suggest that we put towards an award in his honor to help other grassroots electric motorcycle race teams get started.
Please repost anywhere you can. Get this out to friends, family, coworkers, other motorcycle enthusiasts.
Thanks,
Travis Gintz
