I installed it yesterday, but I actually purchased it for my Kaw 650 Verseys, but I decided to see how it would work on my 2017 Zero SR.
I am now at Cisco Grove getting my 8KW charge by hogging up both J-plugs here, as each one can only do 6.5 KW.
I used the cruise control all the way here. I just leave it on, no need to ever turn it off. It simply holds the throttle where it is left, right hand can now be off the throttle, and it will hold the same speed. Turn it off if you want it to spring back, but I never find any use for that.
It's a bit pricy for a cheap piece of metal and some plastic, but it works very well.
I used the bottom kit, with the number one friction pad (four sizes come with the deal, you want the thinnest for the Zero). Have it positioned so the friction pad will use the wide area right behind where the throttle cable leaves. I like these as much as an electronic cruise control. With all the torque of electrics, the speed stays steady up and down the hills, but it is still very easy to move the throttle.
Since I can charge this bike at 8KW (as I am doing now) I use it for many long trips where the cruise control is handy. I am goig to order a couple more of them, one for my Kaw 650 Verseys and another for my Zero DS.

These friction "cruise controls" all lack the fine adjustment that I crave.
It's a shame that Veridian (Dynamics ;D) Cruise is not available for Zero. Electronic Cruise Control for less than 500.

Sometimes I prefer these friction ones to electroic. Easier to operate. These come more naturally than pressing buttons.
BTW, the friction method is stock on my 1971 BMW R75/5. These days, it has to be an add-on if not electronic.

I like electronic speed controls. Press "Set" and the bike keeps accurate speed. On level ground or uphill. Press cancel and it turns off. Press 'plus' or 'minus' and it adjusts set speed by 1 kmh for each press.

the only problem is, you always come up to someone who's going just a little slower than you, or traffic does something and you always have to tap that brake disengaging the electronic, and now have to set it back up again after bike lurches heading for idle. At least with the friction you can give that little tap or whatever, do your correction and be right back where you were

Some cruise controls work a lot better than others. The Harley has a great one, my Chevy Bolt is even better as it has the adaptive type that always keeps a safe distance to the car in front automatically.
OTOH, the one on my 2013 TTSE is lousy. If I do anything it switches off totally, such as when accelerating.
On some of my bikes with the electronic, I have considered a throttle hold. However, I never once wished I had an electronic cruise control on any of my bikes that had a throttle hold.
I am not saying it is better to only have a Throttle hold, it is simply my preference.

Some bikes have Adaptive Cruise Controls with radar. BMW, Yamaha, Ducati, etc. Those slow your bike down if the vehicle in front is going slower than you. Then speed up again. On the others pressing 'minus' few times will reduce my speed by few kmh.

Yes, my Chevy Bolt has such and I can adjust the distance to the car in front. It works very well.
I knew a guy who had it on his BMW motorcycle a few years back and he did NOT like it at all. I never asked why, and he died a couple of years back so I cannot now ask.

They don't always work very well with bikes, because when you are running in a pack, you can be pretty close to the person in front of you, and the cruise controls don't always like following someone at 60 mph only 20 to 30 feet behind them so it'll try to creep your distance out, causing you to accordion the pack, not appreciated, not to mention being so close, sometimes they freak and disengage to back you off quick, again, in a pack, not appreciated to change speeds or maneuver suddenly unless there is a problem. it's easier to mind your own speed instead of constantly fighting with the thing.

To be fair. You really should not be 20-30 feet behind someone at 60 mph. I'd argue that in these situations you should not be using Cruise Control.
