Morning folks,
on the Gen2 platform there is the chance to use an analog input channel on the Sevcon controller to realize a variable regenerative braking, see posts like this (https://www.electricmotorcycleforum.com/boards/index.php?topic=3265.msg17286#msg17286).
Did anyone already figure out if this is possible on the Gen3 bikes? I have recently bought a DSR MY2024 and have particular interest in that bike. It supposedly using the same controller as the DSR/X, so whatever works on the DSR/X should work on the DSR as well - and potentially also on the SR/F or SR…

just remember, if you have T/C and or ABS, the regen is going to have to play nice with these two as well. more with the abs than t/c but still, this is going to take a bit of processing to give a correct signal for proper smooth operation. If you do get to a point where it has to start throttling/curtailing one signal or another, you may need further refinement or dampening, instead just on/off on/off like a relief valve popping to keep inputs from potentially getting too abrupt and causing issues on their own.

But of cause you are right. The DSR does have TC and ABS, but afaik now eABS like Energicas have that reduce the regen in case control conditions are met. I am not sure if TC plays any role - does it not just reduce motor power? I‘d me amazed to learn that it also cuts off or reduce regen in case of traction loss… but I simply do not know this.
If there were a simple solution I‘d even try it, risking to render ABS/TC ineffective. It‘s like in the old days w/o ABS, where you have to apply brake force carefully if you want to avoid a blocked rear wheel.
But it might also create a system conflict in the ABS and/or TC controls… as I said, I feel overeaten ;)

Traction Control will not be an issue with regenerative braking since they'll never be active at the same time.
ABS would also not be an issue if the implementation was like in the Gen2 bikes. Locked rear wheel due to regen is easily preventable with sensible max regen setting. In the rare instance of you using regen and rear brakes at full force at the same time the regen would not override the ABS function since it has it's own control module.
Personally I always ride in Custom mode where regen is set to max. Then I let go of the throttle early enough that most of the speed is reduced by air resistance and regen before I stop. Sometimes I worry that I'm not using the physical brakes enough. :)

locked rear wheel during regen unfortunately can very easily happen with road conditions, hit a bump, tire slips a bit, on a crappy road, some of these washboard roads out here come to mind, hit some sand, water, many things that could cause the wheel to lock up momentarily.
To unlock it you'll need to remove the braking force, whether it be from regen or you hitting the brakes. if both are working together, now you have to make sure they play nice with each other. choosing a milder setting for regen, of course will lessen these chances but still, no one can predict road conditions, and ironically, it is during these exact conditions that tc / abs is most critical to your safety.
I mention tc because although you should not be accel / braking at the same time, with normal riding, if your abs and regen is dancing, it's a good chance that the existing conditions, can ALSO be playing with your TC and start messing with power as well. (if your braking is easing off because your traction is poor, it's a fair leap to assume that your acceleration and applied power may also suffer, due to the same poor traction conditions), so offhandedly they can tie into each other a bit.
Another thing to keep in mind, lets say your regen is very high and you are regenning down pretty hard and start to lock. ABS won't do shit for you, you are NOT using the brakes... so who controls that? TC tells it, hey, back down the power you are sliding, (whether the power is going to or coming from the motor, it still has the same affect, too much will stall rotor.) OR do you want your ABS to work with TC too for regen braking, since afterall, braking is braking?
See how this stuff all kind of DOES tie in with other and has to work together? Im not trying to scare you but let you see that this can get complex if you want to do it safe. Maybe there's an app for that, who knows !
personally i like regen set high, but on crap roads, it and ABS can grief each other, if you are finding that your regen is acting squirrely ,it's probably set a bit strong for the road conditions you currently are in and turning it's aggressiveness down a notch should settle things out quite nicely.

Meanwhile I read some posts about that the controller on the DSR/X (same as DSR MY2024) is designed by Zero.
Does anyone have a pinout description of that controller?
