Hi all, I ordered my Ribelle with hand guards as I'm more likely to ride it outside of summer with a bit more wind protection for my hands.
But, in summer I wanted to remove them. I searched for information on how to do this without damaging any fittings but didn't find any so thought I'd post these photos in case they help anyone else.
Here's the stock hand guards fitted:

After undoing the hex head bolt, the guard comes away leaving the mount protruding from the bar end:

To remove the bar end get a long M8 bolt, thread it in part way and lightly tap it with a hammer:

Tap the bolt with the hammer until it moves into the bar:

At which point you can withdraw the mount from the bar end:

For those wondering, this is what the mount looks like - you can see how tightening up the mounting bolt causes the cone to pull into the cylinder, securing it against the inside of the bar end:

I ordered some replacement plastic domed/hemi-spherical bar ends but couldn't find a perfect snug fit for the 16.8mm inner diameter:

So I had to wrap a little decorators tape and/or duct tape around until a snug interference fit was obtained. HTH!

you pretty much nailed it, just take the hex out and tap out the plug, you can put an ergal back in there to plug the hole or i think caps might be available at most bike shops.
the hand guards, they don't just protect you from the wind, but also from debris coming off the road too. when following behind a semi truck, as an example, those big ass wheels picking grit and pebbles up off the road and throwing at you, that shit stings at highway speeds. if not wearing gloves, id recommend leaving some sort of protection.
