HI all,
Got a new e mc and I want to mod it for better performance, So ultimately I'll need a stronger motor, controller and battery. The hard part is finding motor distributors that have stock in the US. Aside from amazon, ebay, temu or alibaba, does any one know who sells e mc motors? I currently have a 15 kw motor and thinking of upping to 50 kw or so.

hydrogenappliances.com used to have some 10 hp manta motors, and various other stuff that might help or get you started in the right direction.

I checked out hydrogenappliances.com and it was a bust
I'm looking for around 50 plus hp or about 37 kw. current motor is about 20 hp.

not to be a dick but. a motor and a generator is the same thing. check into used fork trucks maybe, that's some hp there and dc. plenty of other industrial machines would qualify. a pallet truck skidder might work too and be a bit smaller. or look for small generators. husque varna used to have some, and there's always the highest quality chineesium junk too if you want to risk it.

I doubt these older tech motors or generators will provide the level of power or efficiency needed. Isn't the BLDC motors used today pretty new in history of dc motors? I'm building a 2 wheeled vehicle so weight, physical size, hp and power consumption are main concerns here. the goal here is to build a bike that is comparable to a 750 cc gas powered motorcycle

so what kind of hp? 750 is kind of vague.
also, pretty much all the good bikes, yes they are battery ie DC driven but the motor is actually 3 phase AC. and they have several with a pretty hefty power density .vs. weight. Energica is a prime example of this cutting edge tech put to use. This is why I mentioned generators too. Generator / Motor 3 phase, the only difference really is direction of current flow.
A DC motor, can be crudely simple, you essentially turn a rheostat for field strength to make it go roundy roundy, but not much finesse there. it'd be a cheap work on a go cart or similar install. or go 3 phase ,but you have very precise and predictable control via the inverter / vfc. i mention 3 phase also because inverters/vfd's are widely available from 3 to 5 hp up to thousands of hp. What do you need type thing.
im sure if you searched alibaba you could get some ideas.

that's another thing, cooling. not sure what you got in mind but.. ac motors can take a bit more abuse than dc motors when it comes to heating.
you stall an ac motor you got a little bit before the magic smoke gets let out of the wires, dc now, you'll cook it in a few seconds since it's 100 per cent full power 100 percent full duty cycle. the link above is expensive but has liquid cooling, much better than ambient which usually needs a hefty airflow, ie external fan or really high rpm's, which now need a gearbox, more room / weight.

I bought two GPR-S electric motorcycles from Electric Motorsport, one in 2009 and one in 2010. The 2010 model used a Sepex DC brushed motor as used in a golf cart, I believe. The motor was designed for 36/48 volts, but the company pushed 72 volts through it. You should have seen the sparks when running the motor in the dark. When I checked the brushes after riding the bike for something like 1000 miles, the brushes looked like they had had a hard life. By 1300 miles the Hi Power LFP storage batteries were toast. They couldn't keep up with the motor's power draw.

yes this might be a good upgrade path, Hopefully I can get the builder to convert the bike to liquid cooling from the start. Expensive yes sadly speed costs. But I was looking at a $2000 12 kw conversion kit to convert my dead gpz 550 to electric.

i spoke with my China contact and was surprised to hear the motor and controller are both liquid cooled
