Hello.
I understood that the battery cells will be balanced when you charge until 100%. Will this be at the “normal” 100% or do you have to select the extended (110%) charge?
And, if the bms is balancing, does it say so on the screen, or do you have to guess what it’s doing?
By the way, how much time does an average balance take, more or less?

I do not have a zero. I do have a ktm, battery Husqarna chainsaw string trimmer etc a d a bunch of Makita LXT stuff. I like to charge with a device that will read out input v, a, w, kwh. It starts at constat current so the watts go up a bit as volts rise in the battery. When it shifts to constat voltage amps and watts gradually go down. I do have a small Makita compatible charger that seems to be 3 rates of constant current. Kind of amusing watching and if you record the kwh could give a window about battery degradation.

-Normal 100%
-Do the gen 3 bikes display the charge current on the dash? If not you can use the app. I don't remember what the numbers will be but you'll be able to see when it goes from charging to balancing and then stops balancing
-Depends how far out of balance your cells are, and one of the factors that will effect that it how often they're balanced. If you're recharging every day, or even every few days, then you'll want to skip going to 100% every time unless you need that range. I think some people have said to do balancing like once a month

As far as I know, the battery cells will be balanced to the charge target you've set. By default 100%, but if you set the target to 60% via e.g. the app, the bike will balance the pack as soon as it has reached 60% SoC.
On the Gen3 bikes, you will notice this on the dash that the bike continues to charge (and consumes energy) although it has reached the set SoC target and remaining charging times is 0m. Typically (in my case) takes between 5 - 10 minutes.

I wasn't sure if the gen 3 bikes balance at a lower SoC with a charge target set, it's technically possible but I didn't know if they had actually implemented it. That's good to know though, so if you're super cautious and never want to go to 100% you can still keep everything balanced.

Well, until now I only charged to a target, and at two times I was there by chance when it reached the set target. And like you say, the target was reached, remaining time was zero minutes, but charging kept going on with amps and kw’s slowly going down for about a few minutes (first time that I noticed it was for like five minutes, second time somewhat less).
So, in other words, if you’re right, I guess I balanced my battery without even knowing it ;)
Something I just remembered: one time the target was set to 70%. When I went to the motorcycle that evening the charging had ended for a while, but the shown SOC was not 70, but 73 %, now I realise that maybe it might have been balancing for those 3% ?

The state of charge percentage is based on the battery voltage, and as the individual cell voltage can only increase during balancing (more sophisticated systems can transfer energy from one cell to another, but not Zero's) then if you had some particularly low cells the percentage could have increased enough to add that 3%.
