Title: Dead Energicas in Europe/US? Need parts :)
Post by: EVriderDK on March 27, 2025, 12:35:23 PM
Anyone who knows about crashed or scrapped Energicas where we can get parts from ? Are we really that good riders ?

Company named Alwin Otten in Meppen (Germany) is currently selling a '20 or '21 Ribelle (no EMCE motor) with less than 7k km on the clock for 9k EUR incl. tax.
As far as I know that is currently the cheapest Energica for sale here.

Would have bought it myself as parts donor, but the electric specs with my '22 do not align.

If you buy it, I would be interested in getting the side fairings - just message me.

It is very important that it is 22 model :D Too bad though.

Battery is of course worth something anyways.

Glad you survived and hope you recover quickly - hope the other rider recovers. Airbag suits are worth every penny. Take care.

Fk Fk Fk, sorry to hear that Aaron! Those broken fingers are really going to suck, but glad you're still in good enough condition to be posting. Damn.

A track provider I used to attend gave a statistic of 1 crash per 14 track days. I crashed twice... in exactly 28 track days... so I believe it.

I wish you a speedy recovery!

I know you had a lot of fun with your EGO, so allow me to ask if it's salvageable? Total wreck?
You want to return to the track someday?

i posted a new thread with all the vivid details as i remember them, as much as i remember at it's starting to come back to me.

I think the bike is very fixable, dodged a bullet there it fell over and slid.... it's so fkn heavy gravity probably wasn't strong enough to flip it fully  ;D  it looks like it face planted layed over and just slid on its side.   new control panel, fairings, handlebar switch and wire harness and left foot peg assy and i honestly think were back to the races.

I had a little over 2200 track miles on it so meh... doing ok wreck to day ratio, and for what little it's worth, not being my fault makes me feel a little better, especially as bad as the other guy is, if it was MY fault he got hurt that bad id be sick about it.  ive looked at the track map and replayed this 1000 times now, is there anything i  could have done differently to avoid, or done wrong and need to correct??  did i come in too soon? etc etxc. nope, it was sound. on a normal run he had no reason to come back over, no matter what track line he wanted to take, UNLESS it was an emergency...  with the info he had, logically projecting that he can't read minds or see out of the back of his head, he basically was trapped.  slam her or slam me. since he didn't see me, he did the right thing by diving my way, unfortunately for both of us.

go back on the track???   the day after the wreck i was back talking to the owner showing him, you see, as soon as i get this cast off the throttle hand, i can ride with a splint, i still got good grip and don't have a clutch so all this hand does is hold the bar.  so fk yes im getting back, can't wait!!

besides, i got the ribelle, i can tape her up, take the bags off and run her on the track too. be a little learning curve but easily doable.

This may be daft, but is there any aftermarket racing quality (looks good at 100 feet at 100 miles per hour) bodywork? That was always the first thing we got for production bikes. Nobody probably has moulds yet, but maybe there is a market for it.

energica is running low on all body parts,  im seeing this first hand as well.  until the bankruptcy mess is settled, they really can't buy anything,  the account custodian typically is the only one to make major purchases, and well sorry but your and my bike are not a very high priority to that 3rd party person right now.

I have crashed ss9+ 2020 - its not dead, it turn on and charging - I almost I can put in gear but give me a kill switch pressed message

as looking for parts - I realized energica is very simolar bike with DUCATI 848 STREETFIGHTER - i mean look at it -  overall shape/frame/fairings/front suspensions/front wheel/brakes

as far as I know for now my only electrical issue is related to complety destroyed abs pump - mechanical damage + missing plastic and also torn out connector so i have bare cables exposed

I was quoted for 800euro with used energica abs pump but as I see ducati 848 has the same pump (at least physically) prices for used are from 50euro I will try to use it - just need to find proper connector to it and also most important thing - electrical diagram

Hello,
you should find the electrical diagram easily, it's available on the internet.
Your Killswitch problem is caused by the "seat switch" I think. That's a switch that detects that the seat is closed, otherwise it won't go into drive mode.

well that part is an easy fix.  the rest now. good luck.  just because a pump may look the same, does not mean it is,  be careful on that.

Please don‘t use any other ABS module than the one for your bike. The parts might be physically identical, but the black plastic part houses an ECU that drives the ABS solenoids (valves). And this depends on SW that is specifically customized for each model. The SW consists of base SW that drives the valves and motor and the application SW that manages how the ABS is run. This depends on available variables, like a set of given parameters that is specific for the bike model plus variables that the ABS collects from external sensors (IMU if present, ABS wheel sensors, pressure sensors etc.). There is already a high likeliness that the ABS module part numbers are different for the Ribelle, SS9 and Ego. For sure it is different for the Experia as only the ExPee has a 6-axis IMU.

So you risk a proper ABS function if you just swap a Ductati ABS module into the Energica. I can‘t say if it even powers up without errors.

BTW: The cylindrical part is the ABS motor and the aluminum block houses the mechanical part of the pump and the solenoids for the front and rear brake circuits. The black part houses the connector and the ECU, which in turn contains the SW plus driver ICs for the ABS motor.

ouch, so ego 2017 will be not good for 2020 ss9 ?

For sure Ducati 848 will be incompatible. I don‘t know if Ego 2017 will work. Worst case for you is that you mount it and it *seems* to be working fine but some tiny parameters are different which only have an effect in Some borderline situation. Well I would not gamble like that…

Try to compare part numbers. Same part number means identical SW and parameters!

Saw You-Tube video (some time ago) about an OEM developing ABS for vehicle specific stopping / profile and the iterative testing plus regulatory steps needed to implement...it's not cheap and takes a long time, like 24months...Energica likely submitted once and applies the same ABS assembly to all models is just a guess.

That said, these modules are built by single vendor (probably Bosch?) and they will have common color code assignments for power, sensor and actuator wiring...maybe even same connector type but the firmware profiles are OEM model specific, as already mentioned e.g. Ducati has different weight distribution so agreed, it's not compatible but Ego is virtually identical to SS9, so no hesitation on what selection to make, IMO.

Bummer about the crash, good attitude about getting back on, keep us posted on the progress.

Just looked at 2020 Energica wiring diagram and ABS controller is standalone, interacts thru CanBus, so maybe a code compatibility risk still exists...

(probably Bosch?)
It is produced by Bosch. Continental has been RFQ‘ed for the early models and again for the Experia but Bosch got nominated.
Safest bet really is to compare part numbers.

drop it or crash it?  hopefully the first as the second can get very expensive!

new england shop might have one if energica san fran does not.  otherwise, isn't that one of the parts that other oem's fight on?  ducatti comes to mind.

but if this will be enough I can always fit some spacers in between

that's one thing that sucks about the bike,  if it goes over, pretty much a guarantee the brake handle is borked,  50 / 50 rear brake takes it in the keyster too.  let us know how the ali part fits for you

in livewire you have to replace whole lever which is cost over 100$

here, you can always buy round piece of aluminium and drill into it, I considered to make my own on lathe but for 4-5$ its pointless

crash was huge, bike is total loss by insurance (13k euro) , but I start to repair it and  for now costs are:

- original wheel - 200euro (wrong wheel - i have to send it back - i lost 25euro)
- 2x disc brakes 300euro (new NG, one brembo is ok, so this still has some value
- original brembo brake pads (one pad is missing and still they are 24k km already so anyway I have to replace) 80eur
- foot brake lever 4euro
- right side of front suspension - 200euro (probably I can order custom down tube for less and it will work but decided to buy spare), old one will be for parts)
- cnc alu mirrors aliexpress 33$ - original are destroyed (ducati or similar are even cheaper but I really dont like it how original ones was mounted and also dont like how they look
- cnc alu turn signals aliexpress 30$ (fork mount) I considering go with rizoma but maybe when I repair fairings
- abs pump 150$ (it will be cheaper if abs module was still there - during crash it was lost, nobody find it :()
- front fender (ducati plastic locally cost about 40-70euro, I am cosidering go with carbon one from aliexpress bcoz its cheap but will see)

TOTAL cost about 1000euro

repairs:
- bent headlight mount
- bent lcd mount
- bent a lot of mounting points to fenders/abs pump and pegs (probably for pegs I have to cut it and weld it back, bcoz I its very robust/rigid there)
- bent seat a little
- fairings are broken but I think I can repair it for cheap (acetone welding/plastic welding)

man i am so sorry to hear of your crash but the most important thing of all.

ARE YOU OK?????

my experia is going thru that process with insurance and all, but it's in the states so don't think it can help you.
might want to hold onto it and as others crash, might be able to piece together a new bike.

but again..
are you ok?

crash was on year ago, broken leg and cut of pinky ;), one month in hospital, after that time I still limping a little but it will be better ;)

car cut me off, and when i try to avoid contact, I hit curb, my hand slip and locked on throttle so hit wall and incorectly parked car with even more speed

bike flys 20-25meters and my body about 10m

I saw smaller crashes with total desctruction of bikes, I am still amazed - almost "nothing" happened to bike

oh i know it's crazy.  when i look at the wreck i had with my ego and both me and the bike got out of it, in not too bad of shape all things considering, its stunning what a bike can survive, and a person if they are protected properly.  A lot depends on how the bike goes down and stays down.  If it leans over to a side and slides, you might get lucky, but if it starts somersaulting and doing cartwheels then yah you are pretty screwed.   I think that it's weight might help a bit there, when it leans over it's so heavy its less likely to start flipping but rather stay on that side and drag.
