2025 (and 2024) has wire wheels and LED turn signals. If you are mainly a road rider, the 2023 would be fine. If the 2023 you are looking at is used, then it also has less warranty than a new 2024/2025 bike.

That is good info about the wheels.
The offer is for a new 2023 unit, 5 year warranty, 5000$ discount :D
But selling a 2020 DSR looks like an impossible job, and I can't have two expensive electric motorcycles now :(

You can sell the DSR, just don’t expect anything over $8000 without waiting for months on end. Personally, I wouldn’t buy a gen II bike like that for anything over about $6k.

Yeah, that's the problem with electric bikes today... it is considered a luxury item, because you end wasting money whatever you do... The fact that you save some on petrol is totally irrelevant, you lose a lot more when trying to sell or if the battery dies after the warranty period.
I was offered €6k some months ago, but for that price, I will keep the DSR 5 more years even if the battery goes to 70% health.

The other part you’re missing with it is that these motorcycles are priced outrageously at MSRP and often don’t sell for that. $6k might seem kinda low for that bike, but consider that many of those bikes were sold with big incentives, special financing, etc.
A couple years ago, I remember seeing blowout prices for brand new 2020 DSRs in 2021 for about $10k. Considering the age of the bike and the weak market, getting $6k for a 5 year old, out of warranty Zero Motorcycle is actually not terrible depreciation considering that imo. The bad part comes if you were impatient or didn’t care to do additional investigation to find one on sale and paid the MSRP. I’ve bought and sold several of these, definitely not making any money, but I’ve bought new and used, resold both, and never lost more than 15% on any individual bike. My used Ninja 400 had sharper depreciation than my used Zero DS did.

That is maybe true in USA, but here in Spain, it is almost impossible to find a good deal for an electric motorcycle. I paid the full MSRP when ordering my 2020 DSR and I still had to wait 3 months to get it delivered here.
The offer I was talking about was en email I received from Zero about selling old stock of 2023 models. I called the dealer 5 minutes after I got the email, and he told me that only 2 units were available for all Spain and most parts of Europe (DSRX). The next day I called again to check and they were already sold...
You are right that I won't be paying again the full MSRP for any Zero bike ever... but this may be the end of my journey with Zero.
P.D: I am sure that more brands and models will be available soon, at good prices, but we need to wait 2-3 years yet. I will try to keep my DSR for another 5 years, then just disposing the bike because the battery will be dead is very sad, when the rest is perfectly fine (including motor).

A ninja 400 is going to have a ton of depreciation because of what it is.
1.they are a dime a dozen, nothing fancy about them.
2. they are fairly cheap - somewhat entry level bike.
3. they get the shit beat out of them at the track, then the people after cutting their teeth on them for a year or so, want a bigger bike so schlep off the old one that's been rode hard and put away wet.
If you have any mechanical abilities, you can get track toys gone bad for next to nothing and fix them up. Hell 2 for 2 grand for the pieces and make one that works.
Ive also seen a lot of issues with these bikes at the track too. Not sure if it's poor maintenance, (probably, it's kids tearing around on them mostly) or if the bike is just problem prone. Im going with not being taken care of correctly.
You don't buy a Ninja 400 for resale value, you buy it to ride it like it's stolen, then get a new one in a few years :D

I got an offer for my DSR 2020, but the offer for the dsrx 2023 is over (no more stock).
I have decided to go for a DSRX 2024 Black Forest (good offer as well).
I will let you know once I have it here ;)
