2020 Zero DSR for Sale (Black with amateurish wrap that can be easily removed)
Located in Naples, FL.

5100 mi (May rise as I still am driving her.) Battery has 1 yr left on warranty that transfers to new owner.
I’ve outfitted this bike with everything offered on the Black Forest edition (but with a larger rear bag), and more: Stereo system, cruise control, turn signal cancelling, phone charger and extra USB port, ability to charge at 13.2 kW (using two J1772 chargers simultaneously) and an aftermarket windshield (not installed). There are some scratches / dings on the side boxes, the front tire tends to lose a few PSI per week. I had to ride home on a flat (was in a very bad area a night), which is likely the cause of this. (The front tire is new. Rear tire is original.)

FULL DISCLOSURE: The front tire loses pressure at ~2 psi per week. The tire is new. (This is probably because I had to drive ~2 miles with a flat - this tire has been removed - to get out of a rough area about 2.5 years ago where waiting for a tow was not advisable.) As long as I check tire pressure every couple weeks, I have had no problem driving or losing pressure the more I drive. (I found a pre-owned set of both front and rear wheels with tires for <$1000 on eBay, so the price reflects this. Tire changing procedures can be found on YouTube. I just did it.)

That is strange about your new front tire losing 2psi a week. I just replaced the front tire of my 2002 Yamaha FZ1, on a rim that still looked like new, and it is doing the same thing. ???

Very common these days with the newer front tires after they sit not being ridden for a few days. I would think perhaps because they are extra soft compared to years ago. However, my front tires that have innertubes (such as my 1971 BMW) do the same thing. The front ties are always losing more than the rear on all my bikes, but I have no idea why.
I check my tire PSI before every ride if the bike has not been ridden for a few days.

Interesting. Like you, I think, the tire I put on was new / never ridden, but had been sitting in my barn for maybe 9 mo. before I got around to it. It's a PITA getting a new tire on, and I was concerned I might damage the rim just doing that, but the new tire is behaving like the old one. Could be the rim is OK and it's just the tire, I guess.
The rear tire is just fine...

Yep - not a bad idea to check the PSI, and it's a breeze with a newer pumps where you set a target PSI and it stops when you're reached the target pressure.

Yep - not a bad idea to check the PSI, and it's a breeze with a newer pumps where you set a target PSI and it stops when you're reached the target pressure.

valve stems dry rot in florida, you can't really see it until it's extreme and fails hard but it's a very real thing.
you can also check that the schrader valve is snug in there too before you replace the stem.

THANKS, Aaron. Replacing the tire did nothing to help the situation, so I'll check into this!

a new tire should have come with a new valve stem already.
another issue especially with aluminum rims is corrosion. they get that white chalky crap or slight rust on them if steel, then won't seal properly.
sometimes a good polishing or burnishing can fix this.
worse case, a bottle of that ride on gloop poured in will circulate and seal the tire as well. it also works nicely for self balancing too in some conditions.

Thanks for this! I don't recall putting in a new valve stem. I had bought just the tire a while back and didn't bother putting it on b/c I wasn't troubled with the slow leak issue, its possible the new valve stem got lost in the move. (I didn't mind checking the tire pressure regularly, as it was kind of a good reminder to check all systems before lifting off.)
I do have some flat out that I could toss in there. (Used it on the 12,000W "E-bike" I sold recently for a flat and it worked great!) Probably not a bad idea as I wouldn't say I'm a pro a replacing and balancing tires...
On a previous bike I started to see the tire pressure drop with newish tires. I had the wheels powdercoated and put new tires and valves on. They were good after that. Surprisingly the powdercoating was cheaper than the tires. My current Zero R is starting to show similar symptoms. Once the tires wear a bit more I'll do the same to it.

some of the cheaper valve stems, like those cheap shit chinese wheels you can get for trailers... ive had them dry rot in as little as a year or so. i had to take the tire to my friend at the auto shop to get a new stem for it and asked... a year??? really??? and was told, yes that is common for a lot of the cheap crap. and even newer ones can start leaking in a few years. especially if you are checking pressures a lot, like at the race track, you are bending them a lot with the on / off of the inflator nozzle / psi gauge.. which causes them to crack faster and seep air
pump tire up get cup of water throw a good table spoon of dawn dish soap in it, stir to mix and gently spray on tires / rims /wo frothing it up. if you have leaks, you'll see tiny bubbles .... the bigger the bubble.. the bigger the trouble.

This would make sense given that this was the wheel (and valve stem) that I had to ride home with a flat on. (Simply wasn't the neighborhood / place to have a breakdown if at all possible, and I didn't want to get a tow just to go the extra mile or so once in the clear.)
I'm looking into getting a new valve stem... (Luckily, I'm getting some hits on my ads elsewhere, from folks who would just buy as it, so I've not just gone ahead and attempted the fix.)
