Basically an e-bike on a steel motorcycle frame, 80cc equivalent roughly. It doesn’t bring anything new to the table, but if the price is right it could be interesting.

I'm more curious about the solar powered vehicles following them, that will be able to gather enough energy to not only make the trip themselves but also recharge the bikes.

I assumed the chase vehicles were gas powered and the whole thing was a publicity stunt. It worked though, I had never heard of these guys before today.

Well they call them solar powered vehicles and say they're not using any fossil fuels for the entirety of the trip. If they're going to be gas powered and only solar charge some batteries then it's pretty much meaningless in my opinion, they'll be burning more fuel than if they just stopped off at public stations to charge or from the mains at wherever they'll be staying overnight. At that point they might as well just strap a couple gas powered generators to the bikes.

It's electric powered. towing a 50 kw genset to keep it running that runs on diesel :D
