Hi all, if a demonstrator Zero, let's assume it's fitted with the 17.3 KWH battery, sits in a dealer showroom for two years
having covered very few miles and the battery is maintained at around 60% charge, is the battery likely to be degraded,
or likely to degrade more quickly when the bike starts getting used regularly?
Would a review of the charging history be useful?

You've just described a basically perfect storage scenario. If it was sitting for years at 60% it's basically the best possible outcome.

When I bought my Zero DSR/X in Reno, the SOC was at 2%! Made me hesitate to even buy it as I don't know how long it has been at 2% SOC. They had to Level 1 charge it (yeah a 120 VAC charge) so I could drive in back home six miles (all uphill). I told them that they should keep the bikes at around 60% SOC, they had no idea. I also explained they void the battery warranty if it gets down to zero % SOC for 24 hours. If a dealer did that and screwed up the battery, I wonder what would happen.
Anyway, since the battery is in warranty I decided to buy it and take my chances. I got it home and lever two charged it and it's range seems to be within reason so I assume no damage was done.
But that 60% that yours was at was exactly where Zero recommends for long-term storage. That is what you want to see.

As others have said, that is a good scenario.
However, all batteries get degraded by time, charge, discharge, temperature, uses, etc... So it won't be at 100% of health, but very close.
