Title: Fuel siphoning in the 21st Century

Don't be alarmed, BOTH vehicles belong to my friend.  :)

NICE!!

But the donor vehicle has to be set up to be able to do that, you can't just pull up to any car and plug in and siphon juice.  It'd be nice but no such love.

What kind of vehicle are you sucking from?

That's my friend charging his Livewire Del Mar from his Hyundai Ioniq. The car can also be used as auxiliary power for his condo if there is a power outage. Nice features to have. He can't charge either vehicle where he lives, BUT he can quickly charge up his Ioniq at a nearby CCS station, and then use it to charge up his Livewire. I think the HOA is working on getting some Level2 chargers in the development but who knows how long that'll take.

In the meantime he should just get some of the 32 amp ones, may cost a few hundred bucks, and just run em out as needed.  Vevor makes a decent one.  32 amps at 240 vdc is not bad really 7.6 kw.   Finding a 240 outlet might be a booger.  I figured out a way with 2 long extension cords and looking for 115's  I have a tester I built, I just plug the cords in to it,  if one light is red, the other green, I plug the red OUT cord in for 240, otherwords its 115 at up to double the amps.  I made a jumper that one can pull the knife switch on an outside AC unit put the gizmo on and then reinsert and it gives you 240 fused for 30 amps there.  Might be an issue with the ac running thugh, you'll need to check the total amps it pulls and tweak your charge current accordingly.

Where there's a will, there's a way to get the go Jooce.

I'm lucky enough to have an Ioniq 5 too... V2L is a brilliant feature :) I could charge the SR/F 5 times over from the Ioniq... makes it very useful as a support vehicle on exploration and camping excursions...

Cas :)

Ya think?
I’m not sure that “Load Sharing“ on a common feed is allowable (one at a time) code wise  but would caution against trying to multitask on the same feed.
AC motors have Inrush Current that’s upwards of 7x that of Running Load Amperage & I suspect the two loads would not play nice with each other.
