I just bought a 2021 ego+ RS - battery warranty will end in 4 weeks.
How can I check SOH?
Are there recommended tests, e. g. DC charging, AC 100% charging with balancing, ...?

Charge the bike to full and do a balance cycle. Then ride the bike down and empty it all the way to 0%. Then, using a measuring device like a Kill-A-Watt meter, do a full charge again. Record how much power it used and report back.

Correct me if I am wrong but, I think Energica just extended the warranty on some of their older models battery, so you might still have a year or so warranty left on it. But still, this is a good check to make to get an idea how it's holding up.
Also, how many miles is on it? Typically though you'd have to put about 120k miles or more on one to really start wearing the battery hard if it has been taken care of.

@Aaron: Mileage is <5000 km :)
Early Energica models had issues with battery defects, so it would be helpful to identify upcoming problems within warranty and contact manufacturer in time...

If you're concerned about that you can do the above procedure to check your battery retains roughly the same capacity in its usable portion. If it's any solace my Ribelle is a '21 (EMCE model) and I've not noticed any capacity drop after 34k km.

Due to some broken parts, I can't ride the bike. I just charged to 80% SOC.
I now tried an AC full charge, this stopped at 98% and balanced for hours.
Within an hour or so, SOC decreased to 96%.
Unplugging and plugging AC started balancing again for some minutes, then stopped again at 96% - no charge to 100%.
Do I have a battery issue?

Keep letting it balance. It may need another day or so of the BMS doing its thing.

No, you do not have a battery issue.
After a full charge, you have to get back into a discharge state to best serve ALL cells, so ride bike and burn-off 5-10% for cells to start their balance session from a normal charging transition where only a few low capacity cells have thier high-side cut-off activated versus a majority of the pack having to self-discharge...that's why it seems nothing has happened...
Repeat steps, betcha after the third iteration it will read 99-100%.

If memory serves me well, the SOH is checked by the bike. My dealer showed me a printout with data when I had my bike there for maintenance at 15000 and 30000 km.
I think the bike records each charging and calcuates.
Here in Germany a company is trying to establish themself as something like a certifying body for used EV batteries. It's name is Aviloo Battery Diagnostics. They measure the charge performance and deduct from that the SOH.
EDIT: Above said about the bike recording/calculating is unfortunately wrong.

Yes, you are right, but maybe there would a chance to get them interested in testing Energica's batteries in their 'Early Access' program.

I saw somewhere that you had to pay for that extra warranty!
It's like they give people a owners a chance to opt for the extra warranty that wasn't available as extra when bike was ordered from factory.

Energica's two-year warranty extension offer is only valid until May 31st. Cost are 1095 € plus VAT.
Battery must still be within the original 3 years warranty.

That page you are citing is referring to the NORMAL policy regarding warranty extension.
I was referring to a (maybe one-time) PROMO running until May 31st!

So, if you are really interested in that warranty extension, I suppose to call your dealer. As far as I understood, they have to download data from the vehicle and send it to Energiga (until May 31st), so you would have to pay them a visit within the next days.

EDIT: What I suggested in my earlier post (bike recording charges / calculating SoH) was wrong.
I went to my dealer yesterday to let them download the bike's data for the warranty promo. He explained to me that a reliable SoH calculation is not an easy thing to do.
They have a '20 EGO in the showroom there with 20,000 km belonging to a client who asks 17,000 € for it. He doesn't think it will sell anywhere near this price.
He also told me about a customer who bought a used Zero S (several years old with about 5,000 km) and the battery died only some weeks after the sale. In the end it was repaired but cost the client somewhere around 2k.
I think we all agree that not knowing the SoH of the battery in a used EV is the main reason why people are reluctant to buy. Objectively this is nonsense because you cannot 'look into' the engine of an IC vehicle either, or am I wrong?
What I totally fail to understand is, why manufacturers did not see that coming and set up something to redeem that. I mean, there is an opportunity to sell some kind of service!

A precise assessment of the SoH may not be possible but data on the lowest cell voltage ever recorded and the current capacity will be what Energica will look at before granting the prolongued warranty.
BTW, the Swiss importer just told me that the battery of their customer with the highest milage (80'000 km in 4 years) has lost only about 2.5% compared to the initial capacity. Moreover, they only encountered one defective battery, all in all. And that one was severely neglected (stored with a very low SoC for prolongued time without attaching a charger).
