Hi has anyone come across the procedure for bleeding the abs brakes including the pump. calipers have been off my bike for a year so need to bleed the system. service manual mentions there's a special process for the abs pump but cant seem to find any more information on it

You don't need to bleed the pump unless the pump has cycled and picked up air. Even with the sytem wide open, the pump itself remains sealed up. Just bleed the brakes like normal.
If you do decide you need to bleed the pump, you'll need to figure out which wires to jump to get the pump to run and valve to shift. That's the only "special" step as it pertains to ABS systems. Other than a new system though, about the only way to end up needing to bleed an ABS pump would be if you got air in the system that managed to park itself at the ABS pump at the same time you hit the brakes hard enough to engage the ABS.

thanks that makes sense. brake lines have always been attached to the abs so should be fine. ill bleed it and see how it goes

Just in case you don't know, make sure you bleed the master first. You can move fluid through the system all day long and never get a firm brake if you don't bleed the master first. The later models with JJuan brakes have a bleeder on the master itself, making it easy. Not all handlebar mounted brake/clutch actuators have that though, so you might have to remove the master from the handlebar to bleed it.
