Just picked up a 2022 FXE from the original owner who had a low speed crash/drop on the right side. I was very suprized the only damage was the right mirror, brake lever, and grip end cap, and a scrape to the bottom of the foot peg. Literally nothing else. Would like to add some protection and wondering if others have had some minor get-off's, and what else typically gets damaged? Are sliders useful, and if so what kind and at what locations? On an FXS or FXE?

I bought some axle sliders for my DS, then after fitting them I decided to lay my bike on the ground and yeah the bars and footpeg touch first so the axle sliders were mostly useless. Unless I happened to crash on a particularly badly crowned road. I've been down twice, the first time I bent the stock bars and the footpeg got stuck in the up position but I managed to kick it and it came back down. The second time my replacement Renthal fatbar managed to not get bent, not sure if it's just stronger than the stock one or I didn't hit as hard. Both times were on the left so I'm not sure how my brake levers would fair if I went down on the right.
For protection I would go with something like hand guards or at least lever guards, and then you can get sliders that mount to the underside of the footpegs that will help protect the mounts (they are bolted to the frame so replaceable should they get damaged, but then you've got to ride home one footed and wait for parts to be delivered).
