Title: Zero FX with TimberSled or Snow Sled?
Post by: ryneodonnell on January 19, 2023, 02:12:02 AM
Hello,

Has anyone here seen or converted a Zero FX to have a TimberSled or Snow Sled or Snow Bike type of setup?

Your input appreciated!

Gas powered snow bikes get around 20 MPG, so let's call it 1/3 of the range of the donor bike. If that scales to the FX, you'd get a range of 20 miles. Then de-rate it for the cold. You might want to do like Aerostich and their Zero below Zero project, with an insulated, heated blanket around the battery.

Up in Newfoundland, I met some guys who swear by their electric snowmobiles for hunting, because of the stealth:

This company claims up to 35 mile range with the optional second battery. 26 MPH top speed. I imagine that's on compacted snow, as it only has 3kW of power.
