Title: Radiator Guard
Post by: jotjotde on December 10, 2022, 02:47:43 PM
Hi there,

In my ongoing quest looking for means to protect my Ribelle from damage (rider inflicted  ::) or not), I stumbled over the R&G Radiator Guard. This is relatively new and maybe some of you are interested how they look and feel.

The radiator is quite exposed to being hit with road debris, though not as much as in a car like e.g. the Porsche 718 where the radiator(s) are just a bit above the street, getting easily damaged. So I decided to purchase the guard.

I tried to get them directly from R&G (UK company) but they pointed me towards a German distributor who had the guard not yet in his official lineup. But they were happy to sell it to me nervertheless  ;)
Cost for me in Germany was a bit over 100 € incl. tax and shipping. Installation is very easy, the guard is just slipped over the two nipples which already hold the radiator and fixed at the same point as the radiator with an included slightly longer screw and self-secring nut made from stainless steel.
The guard itself looks and feels sturdy, nothing flimsy or wobbly, made from aluminium sheet and painted black - exactly what I was looking for. So I am quite satisfied.

Was one of the first mods I did when I bought the bike in 2020, made it myself from some L shaped metal and metal mesh, all together less than 10 €

Wow, that looks sleek for sure!
Judging from the quality you're far away from being an amateur.

Thanks,

I build complete bikes, mostly choppers based on Harley Davidson engines, I also make the frames etc... so this was a simple thing to make.
Now only do it for the hobby and build only 1 bike per year.  ;D

I have already made some things for the Ribelle, you can see on my web page.
