They are the 3-4 biggest motorcycle builder in the world - rather reassuring for Zero owners, and will probably ensure we see lower cost models coming.

But those of us familiar with Buell remember how Hero SHAFTED that company so I wouldn't rejoice yet...

Buell on the other hand do have rather a lot of past form in somehow being shafted / failing in some way repeatedly...

Just the one time when Harley Davidson decided they wanted GOLFER who knew NOTHING about motorcycles to run their company. Keith Wandell (curse his name forever) is the one responsible for pulling the plug. When Erik formed his new company (EBR), Hero went "all in" as they figured allying with Erik would get them a toe-hoid into the US market. Erik actually produced some good designs for Hero outside of his usual sportbike arena, some of which I understand they are using to this day. They even encouraged his entry into World Superbikes. And then, they pulled the plug. No good reason was ever given. The remains of EBR was bought out by a liquidation company (which has recently resurrected the Buell name and is attempting to get the company restarted). Erik has nothing to do with the new Buell company, though... he's gone on to electric mobility. I understand the Flluid e-Bike has been very popular but that development on the Fllow eMotorcycle has stalled. Damn shame because that one looks pretty interesting.

According to multiple sources, Hero’s board recently “approved an equity investment up to $60M in Zero Motorcycles.”
Is $60 million really such a big stake in comparison to what they have already raised? Back in 2020 Zero had already raised $250 million according to this 2 year old article:

My guess is that Hero is more interested in obtaining some Zero tech or assistance in developing their own EV for the home market. The $60 million gets their foot in the door and maybe a seat on the managing board.

What does equity investment mean? Get some stock now and an option to get more later? "It says up to".
