Yesterday when I got home from my work, I plugged in my Ribelle like I normally do. My SOC was in the 20’s and the bike started charging like normal. I checked on the bike a couple of hours later and it was off as if it had finished charging. I turned it on and it as at 29% and my battery temp indicator was yellow. I plugged it back in and it started charging so I went to bed. I got up around midnight and something was feeling off so I checked on my bike. I turned it on to unplug the charger and it was sitting at 96% with a message to drain it to 0% and charge back up to 100% to recalibrate the SOC. I confirmed the SOC was set to 80% in charging preferences. Also, the battery temp indicator was still yellow.
This is the first time I’ve seen this message. I never saw it on my 13kw EsseEsse9 either. Is this something related to the FW version (I had it updated to the latest version a few weeks ago at my 6k service) or is it a sign of something starting to go bad with the battery?
I’m hesitant to ride it into work this morning. If the SOC estimate is wildly out of whack I could get left stranded on my way into work. If it’s fairly accurate, I’ll still need to plug it in at work to get enough juice to make it back home this afternoon, meaning I’ll charge it up a bit before being able to drain it down to 0% as instructed.
My main concerns are:
* The bike ignored the SOC setting of 80% and charged to 96%
* The battery temp indicator went yellow and stayed yellow even though this week has been significantly cooler than last week (temps in the 80’sF vs 100’sF)

Your bike is still running and displays messages - that does not sound unhealthy.
It is surely odd, first stopping at 29 and then charging to 96 when you set the preferences to 80. Probably the software detected something and overrode the prefs. I would trust the SW and do as suggested.
Battery indicator turns yellow at my Ribelle every time I do DC fast charging and stays there even when I then go relatively slow at moderate ambient temperature. I should think the cooler operating quite well under these circumstance but apparently it is not a high capacity cooler. The high mass of the battery (> 100 kg) can stay warm for quite a long time.
Maybe check the coolant level (I think you need to remove the left side panel for that). Enough cooling liquid there?
Is the small cooler fan running while charging AC? Or are the vents clogged? That could force the AC charger to overheat and shut down.

This is the first time I’ve seen this message. I never saw it on my 13kw EsseEsse9 either.
I have seen that message on my " 13kw EsseEsse9 ". I did then run the battery below 0SOC and never saw the message again. And that was around a year ago.
I have wondered if charging at too high of a SOC too often is what causes the message. Lately, I have mostly been recharging when in the red.

Any error messages under "Status" under "Vehicle Service" (assuming here it is like my SS9-)?
Did you try a reboot of the Vehicle Control Unit (VCU)?
With the bike on press and hold the center mode button and the set button on the back of the left control. Hold these till the screen goes black and the bike will reboot.

My 13.4 has overshot its limit by up to 6%, but not 16 like yours in this case. I've gotten in the habit of setting to 75% if I really want 80.

Update so far:
- No error messages. The bike status shows OK.
- I didn’t do a reboot…yet.
- Seems like the 96% SOC was pretty much spot on. I used up 47% to get into work and 48% to get home. I did take the long way home and did some hard acceleration passes to get the bike to kick into Limp Home mode.
- I just plugged it into my home AC charger. Charge estimate is a little over 5 hours to get to 100%.
- I’ll report back later this week or early next week if there’s any other issue but so far everything appears normal (except for the bike ignoring my original 80% SOC setting).

When was the last time you let the cells do a full balance?

It had been about a month since I last charged it to 100%. That was from about a 5% SOC.

Go ahead and let it to a balance sequence. See if that helps out.

So I let the bike do a full charge after it went into Limp Home mode at 1% SOC. It only charged to 96% instead of 100%. Other than that, everything seems fine. I rode it into work again yesterday and it charged to my setting of 80%. I'll keep an eye on the SOC the next time I do a full "0%" to 100% charge.

Having cells well balanced makes your SOC more precise at high and low end of the range. By plugging the charger in again after balancing the bike does another balancing sequence, you might hit 100% again. Is there a specific reason to charge to 80% permanently?

Hell yes. Reduced stress on the cells overall. If they live between the 20-80 rule they have a much better chance at a long lifespan.
