Is anyone else bothered by the TFT display glare at night?
It is so bothersome I am thinking about adding a strip of window tint film to the bottom of my helmet visor!
Wish there was a way to dim the display. Anyone found a way to dim it?

I was just about to post the same thing. It's nice and readable during the bright sunny day, but at night it's just too bright. I don't expect there to be a dim function, though I was planning to find a pin-out for it and see if maybe one is listed... Otherwise I was also thinking of some kind of tinted film, only placed on the screen itself.
Edit: I found a wiring diagram and it appears there may be a separate wire for power and illumination. I'll have to probe around my bike...

I agree - it works well during bright sunshine, but it's annoying in the dark.
Even the cheapest car's instruments have a brightness sensor and auto-dimming for at least ten years.

The TFT display on my KTM 390 Duke changes from a white background to a black background during nighttime and when riding through a tunnel. So it can be done even on a relatively cheap motorcycle. ::)

That display likely has a light sensor in the front of it similar to most smart phones. That makes it easy to detect ambient light and adjust instantly.
I'm not sure the Zero display has that functionality. But it appears the newer display can work on older Zeros.
I found a wiring diagram that shows that display has a 12v power and another 12v power from the running lights circuit. My assumption is that circuit provides power to the back light of the old LCD dash, the new dash might not even use that 12v signal because the dash backlight is just powered on all the time. BUT in the chance the dash does have a separately powered backlight, maybe it's possible to adjust that voltage signal going into the display.

TFTs need a backlight to function, if it turned off you wouldn't see anything at all. The 390 doesn't dim the backlight but rather changes the white pixels to black, so they block more of the backlight. From what I've seen the new Zero dashes are already black so if it's still too bright then the next step would be to dim the backlight, or add some light blocking film in front of the display.
