It looks like the new solid state electric vehicle battery technology is finally making it out of the lab (took long enough) and are starting to be assembled in experimental factories by various companies to see if they can be mass produced and will meet the future requirements of providing power to electric vehicles and other products. Here is page one of a copy of an article printed in my newspaper today, written by Jack Ewing and published by the New York Times detailing the latest battery news.

Slow but steady? ;) They don't want to make a mistake and come out with a new battery design that EV manufacturers won't buy because they don't want to spend the money to redesign their BMS and controller programming. ::)

Is this still lithium ion based 3.6 volts nominal 4 volts max per cell? Swells 3x in volume I read.

Just 2 cents worth:
The progress in computing has been steady and frankly astounding for many years.
Knowing this to be true, some are seduced into thinking batteries should improve at a similar pace.
Alas, batteries are basically a chemistry problem, not an engineering problem. Engineers march on, but the chemistry is stubborn.
