Well, it has been a while since Zero annnonced their Cypher store in order to be able to upgrade some features for the compatible bikes. Their banner on the Zero web site now mentions "Cypher upgrades coming soon".
Do some you have heard of any news about when it is coming? I own an SR/S Premium 2020 and I am particularly interested with the faster charge option. It is only 10% faster but at least, the onboard 6KW charger will provide the full 7KW that most Level 2 charging stations are able to deliver.

It used to say Spring 2022 then got changed to "soon" so most likely delayed until who knows when. Hopefully they're spending the extra time getting their software/firmware in order because it's a mess right now.

The chargers on my SR/S premium are connected with 3kW on different phases so even with the 10% upgrade I will only get 3.3kW on a 7kW chargepoint.

I could really do with finding some way to get that premium charger to accept the full 6kW from a single phase. Grr.

I agree. I'm considering modifying a cable, but the more sensible solution (if it's easy enough) would be to connect both 3kW charger to a single phase on the bike. That way when using any 7kW charger it would charge at full speed. Most of the ones I've come across (work, friend's house) have tethered cables - and I don't want to carry my own cable anyway.

Presumably it's wired that way for the US models so it should be simple...?

It should be easy. I haven't had time to take a look and see if it is. There's always the chance that it's all crimped rather than bolted.
Getting back on topic, I doubt I'd bother paying for 10% faster charging. Even being stuck with 3kW on my premium at the moment isn't really troubling me.

I'd quite like to get 13kW instead of 12kW mind. That'd lop another 10 minutes off a full charge probably.

Its also weird that the ChargeTank has no mention in the cypherstore page so far. Premium + CT will not be able to get any cypher charging upgrade on the old pack as that would mean >1C charging speed.
But i have a standard + CT so IF they give a cypher update for the 3kW unit + the CT then I can get a 9.9kW total charging speed.
Also wonder why the newer 3kW units can get a 17% increase while the old ones only get 10%

At the risk of sounding like a complainer, I'm not going to throw more money at them to get one extra kW. They should just do the right thing and ... let me rephrase that: they should've done the right thing long ago and redesign the system so the bike can use a CCS charger. And please don't give me the "incompatible because of the 100 V system" speech. Harley Davidson can do it, Energica can do it.

Harley Livewire CCS charging is only 13kW and AC is 1.3kW. I don't think the engica is much higher. I'd rather have the better AC. Chademo supports 50V and allows export from vehicle, but is disappearing. Shame as it's a much better standard.

Apparently Energica's can do 20kW. I still think I'd rather have better AC.

The peak charge rates for the LiveWire are 21kW (80 Amps at low voltage... 250-270vdc).
The peak charge rates for Energica bikes are 24kWh (75 Amps at most voltage... 280-320vdc).

You're making good points here. I wasn't aware that AC charging for the LifeWire and the Energicas is that slow.
I still think Zero should offer CCS charging as well though since CCS and 6 kW AC charging do not exclude one another.

I think 6kW AC and around 50kW DC is probably a reasonable minimum. If the batteries can spit out 80kW why can't they take more? Is it all down to cooling? And the whole voltage thing just needs a way to rearrange the cells.

Having said all that, I only charge my bike at 6A/1.3kW at home.

3 kW AC charging on Energicas is a limitation you mostly only hear about from people who don't own one. Once I got my SS9, I quickly realized that I was never going to publicly charge at 3 kW longer than the ~10 mins it would take to add enough range to get to the next DC station. If a lunch stop didn't add quite enough range as I would like, I could make up the difference in 2 mins at the next DCFC stop. While 6 kW AC charging would be a nice bonus, there is a long list of things I would rather they add first, like liquid cooling of the battery pack.

Because charging and discharging are two VERY different beasts. Zero's Farasis cells are rated for a 10C discharge and warrantied for a 1C charge rate.

Most level 2 EVSEs offer up to 6.6kW output. The chargers, which are on the bike, use about 6kW of that to fill the battery. What Sandy is describing is a difference in EU because they have 3 phase power so Zero splits the load on EU bikes. Which is the right way to do things. But it makes a single phase station act crappy.
Here in the US we only have crappy single phase, so Zero wires everything that way to deal with it.

Generally, in the UK, chargers labelled 11kW or 22kW are 3 phase and will give you 6kW charge on an SR/S premium. Those labelled 7.4kW are single phase and will give you 3kW. You also need a 3 phase cable to get over 3kW on any charge point.

Yesterday I heard from a reliable source that it may take until autumn to have the additional features ready and the store opened. The software is not ready. The origin of this information is Zero Europe.
Given the dashboard "upgrade", I have few hopes that it will work. The software is as bad as the SR/F is good: Very.
