Title: Can I install a power tank and diginow charger at the same time?
Post by: Regen on March 11, 2022, 12:26:53 PM
My 2016 Zero SR currently has a power tank, but the stock charger is starting to crap out (stops charging below 100%). So I've been looking to find a diginow charger and belly pan to replace the current charger. However, I don't know if it is possible to use a diginow charger with a power tank. I looked online to no avail. Anyone have an answer?

P.S. If anyone has a diginow charger and belly pan they want to sell to me, please let me know.

Yes, it's possible. I have a Charge Tank, and two DigiNow chargers in the pan, installed on my DSR.
The DigiNow is replacing the onboard charger, and is using the Auxiliary Charging Port, and Motor Controller terminals to connect to the battery. Good luck finding one  ;D

It's possible because the old units we used to make attached either via the aux port, the lugs of the Sevcon, or a combination thereof. Just gotta get creative with the wiring. My old SR was a little unsightly but that's the price of a Power Tank and 1C charging.

I guess the other worry about installing a diginow with a power tank is where to put the J1772 port. I'd probably mount the port in the place where you store the 110v charging cable.

I used to zip tie the inlets to mount them in that sort of nook on the left side by the passenger pegs and the controller. Left side because if it was raining there's no chance of water pooling into the inlet.
