Hi guys. I am a bit on the fence whether I should upgrade from my premium 2020 SR/F to the 2022 model for this new season.
My dealer can get me a pretty good price for my old one, so the cost of an upgrade is not so bad.
I am just starting to do some research on the improvements I can expect, and if it is worth it. Any thoughts? :)

Something that is not entirely clear is if any of the paid unlock options will also be available to the 2020 model? I would guess it should be possible to unlock on screen navigation for example. Not sure about the parking mode reverse, is the 2020 model physically even able to do that?

So, looks like the old Zero SR/F models will also be able to unlock:
* 10% faster charging (345 USD)
* On dash navigation (195 USD)
* Parking mode (195 USD)
I am surprised to see the 2020 model apparently has slow reverse parking mode support. So, all the times I pushed 200+ kg MC uphill backwards could have been avoided with a software update. :P
The updates can be purchased after an app update coming this "early spring" according to their Cypher Store webpage:

Personally - I'd skip the 2022 generation and wait to see what comes up in the next few years. The 2022 upgrades don't really seem to be worth the thousands it'd cost to make the change. Run your 2020 till the warranty expires and then trade in for whatever the new hotness is in 2025.

I guess it depends on the features you're interested in. If you're going to max out the battery then the '22 is indeed very attractive.

I forgot about Energica. I did a test drive back in the days before I got my first Zero DSR. I went for the DSR as the Energica seemed a bit more for racing while I wanted a more commute-type MC, also at the time I just got my license and the Energica was a bit intimidating for a fresh driver. But thanks for the reminder, I willl have a second look. Perhaps time to try something new. :)
Edit: So, I found they don't sell the Energica in Norway where I live. Then the dilemma is solved by itself :o

Tony I could be wrong but if I understood it right, your bike has a 17.3 battery that just need to be unlocked as well.
I guess the details will come out in the spring.
The charge tank upgrade is ok if you have a set of charging stations that can give you that much juice.
I would skip the power tank until it has the same new cells as the main pack but I think it's the same bike

Hm, but even the locked 2022 has a 15.6 kWh battery, which is already a higher capacity than the 14.4 kWh one in the 2020 model?

From the Cypher Store on their website it says you can only open 10% faster charging, on dash navigation, or parking mode (reverse).
Only the 22 can extend range.
It was the 22 SR that could go from 14.4 up to 17.3.
Sorry I got them mixed up.
I'm sure they will confirm that in their email.

Ah, yes, I found it. Seems we have to wait for an App update coming "early spring" to actually be able to use it. Now it says "dealer install", so probably the dealer would be able to install the updates at the service spot already. Thanks!
