Title: More solid state battery news
Post by: Richard230 on February 08, 2022, 09:45:03 PM
Here is the latest news about Quantumscape's progress with designing and manufacturing a solid state EV battery. Sounds promising, but will they need to do better than 400 recharges before the battery capacity reaches 80%? However, the claim appears to be that the batteries will last a lot longer if they are not recharged with a powerful DC fast charger 400 times during their life. But the presenter does make some very good points regarding both battery technology and the future of electric vehicles: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pquzBKDacrU

As always when I hear about the latest solid state battery news, I have to ask myself if the company is tolling for more investors.  ???

400 charges really isn't enough, and someone using these batteries to slog up and down the motorway is going to use DCFC a lot. Never mind the fact it wears out so quickly and inconveniences you ... imagine the resale value plummeting.

Cas :)
