I have a 2011 Zero X that has recently developed throttle issues and has now stopped all together. It has been fun the last 11 years. I mostly used it to ride around my property. Looking at all the projects I have, I am considering parting it out. The question is what do we do with these old Lithium batteries? I have thought about selling it, but there is no way to guarantee how much life it has left. It could last weeks, months or years. It has always been on the charger when not in use since 2011 and charges up fine and worked great until recent throttle issues. Since Zero has abandoned these models, what is the thought process as they get older, in reference to the batteries? If I decide to part it out, hopefully the X parts can keep other folks projects going on this forum.

When I bought my 2012 ZF9 after a while my throttle didn't work very well and would occasionally stall at intersections. I was told that Zero was having issues with the 2011 throttles and they replaced it with a new and improved throttle assembly. That solved the problem for the rest of the bike's life - until that model year was recalled by Zero. Perhaps you should look into replacing the throttle assembly with an aftermarket throttle. I think there are options that will work.

If it were a motor or controller or charger or battery, it would be a different story. I'm with Richard. Replacing the throttle seems much less effort than parting it out, and less wasteful, and then it could remain useful or be sold for a lot more than the cost of a throttle.
