Title: H-D to go public with their LiveWire electric motorcycle brand
Post by: Richard230 on December 14, 2021, 04:28:53 AM
Motorcycle.com has just published an article regarding H-D going public with their LiveWire electric motorcycle company. Here is their financing plan, which frankly I don't really understand:

ABIC will put in $400 million (held in trust, pending no redemptions from its shareholders), with Harley-Davidson and Kymco each investing $100 million. Harley-Davidson will retain a 74% equity interest in LiveWire. ABIC’s shareholders will hold 17.3% equity, with Kymco holding about 4.3%. ABIC’s founders John Garcia and Michele Giddens will also hold about 4.3% between them. Jochen Zeitz, Harley-Davidson’s chairman and chief executive officer, will hold the same positions with LiveWire for up to two years following the transaction, with Ryan Morrissey serving as the company’s president.

And here is a link to the long article regarding this story should you want to try to know more regarding this business and financing plan. To me it sounds like a huge amount of spin. Enough to make the LiveWire take off like a helicopter.   ::)

I read the article, perhaps this is the most inportant line at least that you did not put in above.

"Essentially, this lets LiveWire go public without it having to go through an IPO itself."

It is a bit confusing what is going to be available to buy on the NYSE?  {Common stock is expected to be listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol “LVW"}  Is ABIC going to sell their portion?  Is there any real estate and equipment that will belong to the new company?  Somehow I don't think it looks like a dividend stock.

I saw that, but I wasn't sure what was going on, not being all that familiar with the stock market. To me it looked like a financing scheme for H-D to squeeze money from their LiveWire project and use that to further the development of their ICE V-twins.  ::)

Here is another article regarding this deal and the hoped-for LiveWire company's future. If you ask me, these guys are dreaming:

H-D is a zombie, and this won't save them. They fully deserve it for killing off Buell. They can't go out of business soon enough, after holding the 2-wheeler segment in the US back for decades .

I'm surprised that Kymco is involved in this -- they're a serious outfit in all respects, and have had their own BEV development for a while; their e-scooters aside, whic hare already sold in various markets, I'm not sure what happened to the RevoNEX bike, which was supposed to be manufactured in Italy.
