I am not a great fan of emotorcycles with hub motors primarily because of the gross effect on handling of a giant mass of unsprung weight. I will leave the emotorcycle industry's laziness with single pivot rear suspensions for the time being.
If what they are claiming about efficiency and substantially lower weight of axial motors, a hub motor becomes a more attractive proposition from a handling and cooling point of view.
Slim enough to fit inside the line of the tyre as well, means less width. You could duct air onto the motor using itself to mount the vanes if necessary.
Could be an interesting development?

ALL motors are going to have problems. It's a matter of how innovative and how you use the strengths and weaknesses. ICE motors have huge detriments in that they are loud, produce massive and pollution at the energy production phase ( riding) and have uneven torque as the rpm rise, but they are still quite common , I believe.
Hub motors have huge problems in that they weigh a ton in current form, which is a huge problem from a suspension/handling department. The current crop of yokeless axials help solve exactly that problem, and their narrowness is a plus for putting inside the line of a wheel. For me they appear to be a step in the right direction. These properties also lend themselves to front/dual drive motorcycles as the reduced rotating mass and narrowness, makes steering a better proposition

Interesting your idea of marketing speak. A yokeless axial is an axial motor without a yoke. ie actually descriptive. Yokefree or Superdrive would be marketing speak.
looking at the yokeless axial that I was looking at, and hub motors on various emotorcyles the mass of the motor at the perifery of both motors is pretty big , but the wheel/tyre is far bigger, and also heavier. I do take your point, but the lower opverall mass of the axial yokeless will substantially mitigate that effect it seems ( proof is in the real item of course).
A wheel is a huge gyro. It is what keeps the bike upright, though it possible to have too much of a good thing.
