Title: Hyperfighter Colossus concept video
Post by: NEW2elec on December 09, 2021, 04:11:04 AM
Limited to 100 bikes this is a peek at the new Hyperfighter Colossus which will be shown at the 2022 CES show in Las Vegas in January.

HAHAHAHA

So the new Damon is actually a Ducati? Alternatively Damon is infringing on the intellectual property of  another motorcycle manufacture...

You know, it’s kind of sad that they didn’t take the time to even make their own video.   There better be a real one at CES next month.

A company that hasn't delivered anything but hype is already releasing a second model.

At least Lightning delivered a couple of bikes.

I would much prefer to see a production update than a video that has been blatantly ripped off.

I completely reject Shadow renaming this thread.
What the hell "scam" do think there is?

There is footage from a Ducati video on this clip, yes.

And?

Has it crossed anyone's mind that Ducati and Damon may be working together?
Has anyone seen an electric Ducati ready to race MotoE?

If someone at Damon got caught taking an easy path for video content that's between those two companies.

This new Damon bike will be a CES in Vegas.  Most of you are a few hours away feel free to go ask all the questions you'd like.

I've never posted that everybody should put down deposits or that they should put of buying anything else to wait on Damon.

I've only put out info to help people see what else is out there.
There isn't a single EV company that has put a damn thing out on time, much less with a pandemic going on.
I know this forum is littered with dead companies, but I've never seen this kind of obsessed hatred toward a new company that is trying to make some awesome bikes.

Pretty much this. I don't have an opinion for or against companies with no products on the market. However...

At some point though allowing an entire section of EMF to be cheap SEO for a possible scam is irresponsible to not label it as such. There's as you say some enthusiasm for it but the view from here is it's one user making regular posts about a company that doesn't have any products. There's nothing tangible here to discuss? The linked video is misleading. I'm following what is plain to see here, misleading users of the forum in that manner is not going unnoticed.

The Damon and "Colossus" story has hit this on-line publication. However, it does appear to me as if the article is more of a press release prepared by Damon than an independently written and researched evaluation:  https://thepack.news/damon-motors-full-speed-ahead-with-expansion-to-europe-and-new-hyperfighter-model/

The article mentions lots of big plans and claims of tens of millions of dollars invested in Damon, so we will have to wait to see what their production numbers, distribution and dealer signups will be like in the future. Hopefully, a lot better than Lightning's.  But I will admit that the Colossus claimed specifications seem a bit over the top to me, although you could argue that the specs and price are close to that of what Lightning was claiming for their racing model back in 2014.

Hey KTM had their electric bike out in Europe for a few years before it was imported in 2017.  It was road legal there they chose not to do so here.  $500 uncrating fee and balance due at pick up.

I would think after the initial deposit they really need some escrow mechanism.  The current deal is paid in full before it gets shipped.  Or does anyone dispute this?  Picked up at the authorized service place maybe?   I doubt I am the only one watching the Sondros folks try and convert deposits into pay another $1000 now and in full before shipping, no shipping quote.

Last I recall their lease is really a balloon loan with a buy out clause.  Isn't the buy out entity different than the loan origionator?   We have had this discussion here prior.
Triumph and Ducati will likely have bikes before Damon has beyond what they have pre ordered at this point.  Maybe Kymco, maybe others?

Shadow there isn't much I can't stand more than when people try to cherry pick parts of a post to save themselves from looking bad.
Please explain how you know so much about what businesses will or won't succeed.

The only issue with this thread is the Ducati footage.  Which frankly I don't give a damn about.  Like I said that's between Ducati and Damon.

They don't claim this naked version of the Hypersport which, if people have read and watched all I've posted would understand the drive unit allows many different platforms from the same core, is ready to be ridden home from CES.

This continued childish mind set from some on here of, if you can't buy it right now then it doesn't exist and never will.   WAHHHHH
Grow up people!
This is the social media era we live in now.  You get 3 or 4 movie trailers before the thing hits theaters.
Elon said they were building the Roadster II "NOW" back in 2018.  How's that coming?
Teaser teaser teaser hype hype hype is just the way things are done now.  Live with it.

At the bottom center is the HQ.  Right above it is a huge cargo shipping yard for trains and ships.  Like where you would want to be to ship bikes all over, huh?

https://www.google.com/maps/@49.2854775,-123.088408,505m/data=!3m1!1e3?hl=en

They list their investors on their webpage.  They list their executives.  They show their team.  They show their R&D shop.  They have shown the bike on the road in the real world.  They showed the happy city councilmen at the planned factory spot and the jobs it will bring.

This is the most elaborate "scam" of all time huh?

And as for cheap SEO or whatever reason you have for being against this, I post this information on here to have it out there to show all the steps that are being made to make a great bike.  The kind of bike people have been wishing for for years from Zero.
I'm not paid or encouraged to do it.  I watch the company and post what I think is helpful or encouraging.  It's the point of a forum.

Your little "warning" is based on nothing but your opinion which is fine for your own post but don't put it on mine.  It looks like I'm questioning the company and I'm not.

Please remove your opinion.

Thank you

Oh nice, they're already expanding into Europe. This makes total sense after their tremendous sales successes in North America.

The article mentions they have $45M in orders. Would be interesting to see who these "orders" are from.

"Elon said they were building the Roadster II "NOW" back in 2018.  How's that coming?"

Not sure of this comparison? Is there Ducati footage that Elon (Musk? assumed) claims to be the new Roadster II as well? That would also be misleading.

I don't like the word "scam". What is a better way to express that this is not a real product and the marketing is whack?

Cherry picking again?  After I pointed out how pathetically weak I find people's arguments who do it are?  Interesting choice.

Don't want to address all of the proof that it's a company building the bike that the others wish they could?

I understand.

Again please remove your opinion from my post, it has no value and is based in no fact and is backed by no knowledge of the company .

Thank you.

Weren't they supposed to have done test rides this summer? What happened to that?

I understand delays due to Covid but it seems these guys are all about marketing and not about the actual riding experience.

I really hope they come through but the electric moto space has so much vaporware which is where my scepticism comes from. Lightning has 2 factories but that did not seem to help them build bikes for some reason.

I wandered around their website including the parts pertaining to preparing for the 400 year high water event.  Was wondering how high of ground their building was at.  That is near the water.  Salt water right?

All of Canada was under Covid lock down.  It would have literally been against the law to come to the US for test rides.  That got lifted in Nov.
That's  how they are able to go to CES in Vegas next month.
I'm sure the supply chain screw up hits them too.  I guess they were lucky they were not yet in production in 2021.

I have no problem with guys being skeptic.
Like I said I've never come on here telling people to place orders or deposits.
I post this stuff to say hey here it is, make of it what you will.
I like it, I'm excited about it.  If others aren't then don't worry about it.  It won't hurt you.

I need to do the following to finish out my Damon order:
1.  test ride
2.  have a service center in GA or no more than 3 hours away.
3.  be able to insure it without selling a kidney
4.  seeing that the range and other spec are at least close to goal.
5.  and would like to see an increase on the battery warranty but if not I may just go with the 2 year subscription and then put my old butt on a more upright bike.

@NEW2Elec Do you have any affiliation with Damon other than as an interested potential customer? The enthusiasm with which you post about a product which you don't own and the tone of some of your posts makes it seem like you might have an interest in the company. If there is a connection then I guess that would be fine, but it would be good to know.

Well I have addressed this already but since you asked a specific question then I'll answer it directly.
I do not work for Damon.
I do not get paid by Damon.
I have not been asked to post or share by Damon.
I have not invested in Damon.

I get nothing for posting here.  Unless you want to count a lot of flak.

I put down a $100 deposit on a Hypersport in late 2019.  At that time I was shown a delivery date of 2022.  That is still what I'm shown.

I posted in the very old Energica section an excitement and hope that they would succeed .
Same for the early Lightning section.
Hell, same for the Home Brew section posts on the Lightfighter race bike.

I believe that if electric motorcycles are going to become mainstream they need to do at least a few things better than the gas bikes they compete against.  If a company is shooting for these goals then I'm going to support them unless they are "proven" to not be what they claimed.

Damon press release claims they have $45M in orders.

Your $100 deposit isn't an order.

So if every bike is 30-40k, there should be over 1000 people out there that have already spent money with Damon without getting anything.

I hope these guys succeed but so far all I see is cray promises and no delivery.
Title: Re: Hyperfighter Colossus concept video
Post by: NEW2elec on December 14, 2021, 12:49:29 AM
I can't verify how many people have or have not said they want to buy a bike.

I would say they are quoting a deposit as an order but that's just my assumption.  No one has paid in full for any bike that I know of.  I haven't been asked to put up any more than my $100.  Also the only bikes that were supposed to be ready by 2021 were the 26 Founders bikes.  Those people were told that their bikes would be delayed until 2022.  Once they are ready to build the bikes then as a deposit holder you pick your bike type and color and at that point you are obligated to buy the bike they build for you.

The 26 founders edition bikes and the premier bikes both required a $1000 deposit as they are the $40k bikes.

Just so it's clear I won't pay in full for a bike until these things happen.

I need to do the following to finish out my Damon order:
1.  test ride
2.  have a service center in GA or no more than 3 hours away.
3.  be able to insure it without selling a kidney
4.  seeing that the range and other specs are at least close to goal.

As long as there are no big covid issues then next year they do test rides and they said they would build the first 26 bikes at their HQ.
I'd say the rest wait for the factory to be finished but that part is my guess.

Nothing burger   :P

Compare what is available from a dealership in my state that has to play with consumer protection should things go bad to what is proposed on an out of the country mail order deal that so far as we know has not even been certified DOT.  Perhaps called homolgomated.  Maybe they are staying below the 200 units on purpose.

As to the use of Ducati's video I presume they forgot to copyright it is what royalty free and similar mean.  What does that say about the possibility of using someone else's patents.  I do believe Damon is making patents which perhaps is where some of the return of investment for the sponsors.

The comments on that article two posts back pretty much state a lot.

Did you watch that hour long video on here lately of a guy talking and around minute 43 or 45 It mentioned someone who left Damon.

How must it be to work there and expect (or post similar to social media) to be going to race motoE on a Damon when things open up to find out they don't have any video from a race track of their bike.  Like they can't rent or buy a diesel generator.

Wow, nice.

They even quoted HoodRichOG!

Does anyone truly believe that Damon created the video, and not once anyone inside questioned where they got the footage from? They couldn't film the actual bike because of a lack of chargers?? Really?

Can anyone confirm that Ducati lets competitors use their videos royalty free? That would be quite surprising if true.

This company is starting to sound a lot less like Tesla and a lot more like Theranos..

I think most people on this forum want these companies to succeed. We want Lightning to succeed, we want Damon to succeed, we want them all to succeed. It's why we are here.

The problems pop up with the Tech CEO/Startup BS some of them constantly say.

From the CEO:
Quote
“Forget what you know about traditional streetfighters. Just as HyperSport has done to the sportbike segment, the HyperFighter stands to disrupt the streetfighter category with groundbreaking technology not found on any other bikes. The HyperFighter is a stripped-down demon of a bike that is not for the faint of heart. We’re excited to give the naked sports bike fanatic everything they want, and with HyperDrive serving as the nucleus, Damon can continue to innovate and rapidly scale to bring the world’s most electrifying motorcycles to market.”

When you say things like:
Quote
Just as HyperSport has done to the sportbike segment, the HyperFighter stands to disrupt the streetfighter category with groundbreaking technology not found on any other bikes.

It hasn't launched, it can't disrupt a segment if it isn't available. Test bikes or not, it's not disrupting anything. Most people don't even know who or what Damon is.

Then things like this:
Quote
“HyperFighter pays homage to the streetfighters of yesterday while looking to the future with unparalleled safety and performance that Damon is known around the world for. We’ve built an incredible, technologically-advanced motorcycle that will appeal to both long-time streetfighter enthusiasts and new riders.”

Quote
...Damon is known around the world for.

Around the world for? Nobody except employees has even been on these bikes.

This isn't just related to electric motorcycle companies, this is a lot of companies in general. But we are on the EVM forum and that is the topic.

People have been soured to the constant press release but inability to actually use a product. It's across all sectors but that's why they get backlash on this stuff.

WE WANT THEM TO SUCCEED. It's a benefit for the whole industry. But you need more then Instagram photos and a few prototype bikes to convince most people these days.

It has a left hand rear brake, looks like the brake hose might get squished in the shock spring.  Two years I wondered if the rear brake pedal would not work out too well with the moving footpegs.  Moving footpegs have been taken out of the specs as we have known for a while.
Title: Re: Hyperfighter Colossus concept video
Post by: Fred on January 07, 2022, 01:42:46 AM
Good to see the oil filler cap from the rendering has gone. I'm sure that was just a clutchcover from an ICE bike they'd lifted.

The 3D printing looks a little rough with those clearly visible layer lines. FDM is fine for hobby use or an internal prototype, but you think they'd at least have gone for some SLS (selective laser sintered) nylon for a trade show.
Title: Re: Hyperfighter Colossus concept video
Post by: HoodRichOG on January 08, 2022, 12:32:32 AM
So they don't change the footpeg position any more with the "shift" tech?

Does anyone really care about changing their bar height? Personally, I find a comfy position, buy risers if I need to, and leave it as is. I have zero desire to change my bar height...

That prototype looks really rough IRL....

From the Youtube channel The Laughing Lion you can start from the :50 mark for a quick Damon look or watch the whole thing since CES is a toy store for adults.
