Besides the crash bars, what sort of protection can I get for the S model? Are there any bar end sliders or frame sliders?

I've got generic R&G crash bungs on both axles of my SR/F, same sort of thing will fit the S. Bar end sliders are a bit of a strange one because they cost just as much as bar ends so what exactly would they be protecting?

They'd protect the throttle, which is what got scraped in my accident. They would slide on the road instead of my plastic and rubber throttle. Easier to replace a bar end then the throttle, which is expensive and the grip is a pain in the beehind to get on.

You could put handguards on the handlebars if you want to protect your lever and throttle.

R&G make frame sliders but they only fit 2013-2015 models, unless you want to cut up your tank plastics. I have frame sliders on my DS but they don't actually touch the floor on flat ground, the bars and foot pegs touch first. You can get slider for footpegs which might prevent some damage and as mentioned handguards are good for protecting the bars as they're more likely to slider instead of digging in and bending the bar.

Another area I had issues with. My foot sheared off the right footpeg. I didn't know they made sliders for footpegs though. Now I'm on the lookout. Although the pegs are pretty weak, I feel like sliders would just snap with the rest of the peg.

I never did get round to buying some but I probably should. When I laid down my bike (not in a crash, just placed it down gently) I'm pretty sure it was the hinge area that took most of the load (because the pegs fold up) so in a crash it would probably damage that and maybe even rip the mounting bolt out of the frame. The hope with a slider is it would raise it up enough so the hinge doesn't touch. There's still a chance the peg could snap from the load placed on it but it should slide better than the bare peg or hinge so at least they will be less twisting force.
