Hi all,
I recently had the pleasure of taking my FXS to a kart track and it was an absolute blast. However, the biggest paint point was the kickstand that majorly limited lean angle when turning left (and required hanging way off the bike to keep from dragging it).
Anyhoo, I plan to remove the kickstand for my next track ride, but have the issue of the kickstand safety switch. Previous posts on the forum seem to focus on modifications, whereas I was hoping to simply give the switch what it wants — likely by taping a magnet to the sensor (since it currently senses the magnet on the kickstand). I was curious if anyone else has gone this route and if anyone has recommendations there? I admit, I do fear what happens if my hack fails mid-ride and the bike suddenly concludes that the non-existent kickstand is down…

You could short the plug, but I think Gorilla tape will not let loose. Most of us use it over wheel weights without any issue. Even if it falls off you loose power not a lock-up so not a real big problem, it happens to many.

I can confirm that taping a magnet works just fine, I've done for my SR/F for actual races (2 to be exact), and surprisingly, using electrical tape it never broke loose (I definitely had the same concern, as a mid-turn power down would be quite disconcerting).
I picked up some neodynium disc magnets from a local hardware store, I'm sure Amazon would have some, or you can use another supplier I've used https://www.kjmagnetics.com/ (https://www.kjmagnetics.com/) which has great products (may be overkill, I've used to mount control boxes to tower walls which I could not drill for obvious reasons).

Thanks for chiming in with real world experience. I wonder why OEMs would prefer a hall effect sensor over a physical, binary switch. :shrug:

Be careful shorting that plug, we've had a couple people try that and fry their MBB. I think you'd have to add a resistor. The magnet route is probably safer if that makes you uncomfortable.
