Title: When will there be no waiting list?
Post by: DonTom on August 17, 2021, 10:49:52 AM
When will I be able to walk into CA Moto in Livermore, CA  and buy a Rebelle with the new motor, with the bikes in stock, no waiting list?

Are there any clues yet?

I will have to trade in an ICE bike as I don't have the room for 11 bikes after selling one of my houses.

When supply exceeds demand?

Honestly, it's not a good thing when there are bikes sitting around to be of choice.  That's alot of money just sitting around.

Yep, like when I purchased my SS9 two years ago. They then had all tree models in stock in  Mtn.  View.

Of course there are clues...battery pack is designed for fit and function and not really adaptable to automation unless the cells groupings are modularized internally (me doubts it based on the 13.5kw patent illustrations) hence the bottle neck but the technology is changing and Energica needs to do better w/ systems design and get a grip on thermal management...it's a tough spot to be in.  The industry is turning away from NCM so no, investing in automation sometimes is not the best call either...

If you want one better contact them asap.   I just put a deposit down on an ego+ rs shipment arriving in november.  I don't think they have the capital to meet demand so you just gotta call.  They may have one more open slot.  Contact laurence @ energica.

Welcome! I see this is your first post here.

I am in no hurry. I can wait and not interfere with those who really want to buy one soon.

I am quite happy with my 2020 SS9-.   Even has enough range for me in most areas, now that there are many CCS stations in most areas I ride. I am usually ready for a break before I run out of juice as it is.  So I can l wait a while and see what happens.

Depends how fast they expand their production line and how soon they get the shipping into the west coast unstuck.  With the shipping situation, maybe they'll be shipping via east coast soon?  Trucking them past the Austin Tesla factory maybe?

Togo are you certain that container has been delivered? I ordered in early October, and of course anxious for all news. Keep me posted.

Is this caused by the COVID thing?

I don't think its covid so much as shipping to West coast of US  from italy.

I think the biggest issue is the volume of traffic through the ports. I order a Ribelle on October 16th.

The dealer was told by Energica 10 days ago that the containers were offloaded from the ship and in the dock. Alas 7 days later the bike is stiil at the dock. not sure if waiting on customs, transportation or something else.
The biggest issue for me is the general lack of information the dealer is getting from Energica on progress and possible delivery dates.

Keeping fingers crossed it won't be much longer.

Don't feel too bad.  I ordered my Eva Ribelle at the end of August and I'm still waiting.  The last word I had from Energica a couple of weeks ago was that it left Italy around the middle of October and was still on the water.  I'm hoping that it shows up before the end of the year but I'm not holding my breath.

After watching all of the YouTube videos and reading the forums, I'm sure the wait will be worth it.

I'm surprise you guys aren't in contact with Energica directly or even Arie from Calmoto.  Anyway bikes just cleared customs.  If you didn't order any fancy MY2023 colors then you'll get it soon.  As for me, I have to wait for the Tri-color fairing.  But atleast I should be able to physically touch the bike in the warehouse soon!

But why wasn't this a problem in the past?  When I bought my 2020 SS9, they had all three is stock for months waiting for buyers.

Is the larger battery increasing demand that much?

Very much so. The other factor they're discussing is the state of logistics in the modern world. It's ugly.

I've been E-mailing Laurence at Energica about once a month since I ordered my bike.  I'm guessing that with the port backup on the west coast they don't have any exact schedules but if what andyman says is correct, it sounds like it's getting close.  From what I was told they need to go through the Energica facility in South San Francisco where any accessories are fitted and then they are shipped out to the dealers.  In my case it will be Pro Italia in Glendale, CA.

I was hoping to ride the bike home but right now I have 6" of snow at my house and icy streets.  Such are vagaries of living in the California mountains.  Last week the weather was cold (by our standards  :)) but sunny and I did a 175 mile loop ride for breakfast with some riding buddies.  I'll just have to wait and see what the weather is like when the bike finally comes in.

The info from Andyman is very promising. Hopefully my dealer (Yamaha Suzuki Motor Sport up in Portland OR) gets an update soon. I was hoping to ride back from Portland to Seattle but may end up renting a uhaul and bringing it back that way, cold and wet up here now. Not sure I want my first ride in 18 years to be on I5 in those conditions.
My biggest issue is just the general lack of communication from Energica and the dealer. Even if the update is we have no update, it has been stony silence more often than not.

Keeping fingers crossed now though, maybe it will be here just in time for the holidays. :-)

Given the state of the ports on the west coast I would think it would make more sense to ship bikes to Wilmington on the east coast and work everything through the Morrisville facility.

The Port of Oakland (only a few miles from SSF) says that they are wide open with no shipping or off-loading delays. But maybe the container with the Energica bike shipment is on a cargo ship that docked at LA, like the majority of the container ships seem to be doing this year.

I received an E-mail from Laurence at Energica late yesterday saying that the container ship with my bike is moored in Long Beach.  It shows up on marine traffic.com.  Given the congestion at the port, trucker shortage, and other logistics steps that need to take place, I expect it will be some time yet before the bike will be delivered.

Perhaps some bikes from that batch will start showing up at dealers if they are not all pre-sold.

People in the Bay Area who don't want to wait can get a very well-optioned EMCE Ribelle right now for an insanely low price. I almost kicked myself for buying my SS9- before this one came onto the market a week later, but $18k just wasn't a financial commitment I would have been in a position to pull the trigger on, no matter how good of a deal.

Wanted to say thanks. Picked it up because of this thread, wouldn't have seen it otherwise.

Nice, congrats! You know, the best way to say thanks is to let me take it for a spin. ;)
