I have seen CCS chargers here in the USA that were a lot more expensive than gasoline--at least for motorcycles.
Some CCS chargers charge for the parking time. CA recently made that illegal since the charger controls the time.
IMO, that is like charging for the time at a gas pump as they slow down the pump speed.
However, I have noticed many CCS chargers recently stopped doing that. When my Energica was new, it cost me more than $15.00 to charge up in Fernley, NV. The last time I was there, it cost me around a buck for the same charge time.
That same 15 bucks in my TTSE would get me hundreds of miles instead of around 60.
It has gotten MUCH better in the last two years. There are still some rip-off chargers in Truckee, CA but there are FREE CCS chargers at the Donner Rest stops, (https://www.plugshare.com/location/303849) which is a perfect place for me to charge between here and Reno. Half way, at the very top of the hill, 7,200' (2,200m) elevation.
That is only a few miles from Truckee. Thanks, CalTrans!

What caught my attention about that charging station's photo pricing was why the charging station company would want to raise the kWh rate by 500% after three hours of usage? While that may encourage their customer to vacate the facility after three hours, if you have a vehicle that has slow charging and you happen to require more power to continue your travels, they are really sticking it to you. Especially as they are charging you per kWh and not charging you a fee for being plugged in when fully charged and no longer pulling power from their outlet. The charging company must have a reason for their pricing scheme, but I can't figure out what it is. It would be interesting to hear their side of the story.

It must be a crowded area where there are not enough charge stations. But what type of charge station is it? It must just be an AC supply (like J-1772 or Tesla Destination stations) if they expect people to need three hours.

My job has numerous L2 chargers. They're free for the first 5 hours and then $10/hr afterwards, whether you're charging or not. It's to get folks who arrive at work early to move their cars around lunch time so those who arrive at work later get a chance for a charge as well.
My guess is the spike after 3 hours is for similar reasons...they're not intending for folks to get a full charge from the charger, just enough to get going again so others can utilize it as well.

I think they just decided that their investment needs to to be paid off within a few weeks ;D
In Copenhagen we have free parking for EV's almost everywhere. Problem was that EV owners also parked their cars on charging spots without the need to charge. It's so frustrating that every single app shows an available chargingspot cause some jerk just parks without connecting to a charger. So now they just have to have their cable plugged in no matter what so everyone can see if it's available or not.
