Title: DAYI Motors E-Odin
Post by: Richard230 on June 01, 2021, 07:47:34 PM
Here is a company that has announced a new electric-drive motorcycle that appears to have been designed to look a lot like an old BMW K-bike (and not a BMW boxer  ::) ). It has a decent size battery and pretty fast charging, although the motor isn't all that powerful especially considering that it is loaded with hard luggage and is designed to carry two people. But they really need to do something about that model's name if they want their customers to brag about owning one: https://electricmotorcycles.news/dayi-motor-launches-their-electric-motorcycle-e-odin/

That was the FIRST thing I thought of when I saw the photo:  "Looks like a BMW Flying Brick!"

I like the looks of that one.  Reminds me of my K100RS that I just sold!

It sounds like it's heavy as heck.

The front looks like it was lifted straight off of a BMW S1000R, too, now that I look at it again...

7.2kWh battery, 6kW motor.
For two people+luggage? Bullshit.
210km range? For one person, maybe at 30 km/h.

Well they do list it's maximum speed as 100kph. I think the phrase "suitable for 2 persons" is just a way of saying that yes, technically, you can carry a passenger. To my eye, the hard cases look small. All in all, this looks like an electric motorcycle designed for the city and a very leisurely back road jaunt or two. Definitely not a high speed freeway electric motorcycle which is why it can probably achieve the range figures advertised.

Here is another view of an E-Odin in the wilds of China. I think it looks better from the rear than from the front.  ;)

I agree...it is a nice looking package...even if it does blatantly copy a K-bike's style.

You HAVE seen the size of a typical Chinese person in their native country, right??  It was obviously NOT designed with your average Scandinavian in mind.
