Title: SR/S Ticking Sound
Post by: karlh on May 17, 2021, 10:29:29 PM
Occasionally I have noticed a ticking sound when stopped at a traffic light on my 2020 SR/S (not the turn signal).  The rate is about once per second.  It doesn't happen on every ride, and I haven't yet been able to determine any common factors (time of day, distance covered, temperature, etc.) for these occurrences, but I plan to talk to my dealer about it this afternoon.  Has anyone else noticed this?

Not me (2020 SR/F), though I've only ridden without earplugs on it about 3 times.

Cas :)

Does the tick remain, if you Turn-Off the Kill Switch (and/or lower the Side-Stand)?
If so, Does it come back as soon as you re-arm the bike (or does it wait for throttle rotation)?

I'm only familiar with that warble sound that triggers on throttle-rotation (bike armed).
I always wondered it that was a Pedestrian Alert or a Cooling Fan?

Earplugs are not a factor as I wear them all the time.

I haven't tried dearming and rearming the bike, but I will the next time the ticking occurs.  It's not loud enough to be a pedestrian alert, and I don't see a cooling fan listed in the Parts Catalog.

I have a 2021 SR/S also and have not heard any strange sounds of that type.
