Title: Insurance Company Zero Motorcycle Classification - HELP
Post by: EV Moto on March 27, 2021, 06:29:34 AM
Has anyone had an insurance company classify their electric motorcycle as another model that's not correct, after giving them the VIN ?

If so, how did the insurance company resolve their underwriter's incorrect model classification in their system ?

My Zero S VIN comes up as an MX dirt bike for some of the brokers, except on the GEICO website, where it comes up as 'S SR'.  And AAA management decided to input 999cc in their 'Engine Size' quote question, even though they know I have an electric motorcycle.

Can anyone offer any helpful info ?

Thanks

We had that problem with our Honda CB Custom.  It was frustrating.

Our insurance is Progressive.

Crissa,
So what was the insurance company's resolution to the situation?  How did they overcome it?

We kept having to call them and eventually they figured it out.

But ever few years it would crop up again and be mis-identified as a race bike.

Thanks Crissa.  Guess I'll have to do that too.  :-\
