It's the world's largest powered 2-wheeler market, with sales of ~20M units/year.

Very sensible when you consider the range and speed of the things... they will only ever be charged at home I should think. No point in carrying around the charger?

They say it can quick charge too, "most of the way in around 30 minutes" and 18 minutes of charging will get 46 miles of range (no mention of whether that's for the 75 or 112 mile range model). No idea how that is achieved as I assume it doesn't have a high enough voltage battery for DC charging.

It simply must be high enough voltage or they just couldn't do it.
Clever electricky people: is there any particular disadvantage, if you have, say, 100 cells, as to whether you arrange them all in series to get 330VDC, or if you arrange them all in parallel, to get 3.3VDC? Is it that you won't be getting enough amps if they're all in series? The physics of it all is intriguing, especially if like me you've never studied electronics in any detail.
Like, if Zero just decided they were going to put all four of their module packs in series instead of parallel, that'd quadruple the voltage, but presumably quarter the amperage it could output? What's better, amps or volts?

I think (an option for?) mode 3 Mennekes/J1772 charging and non-proprietary mode 4 CCS quick charging would be very much preferable.
I found an adapter cable for Niu to be able to charge mode 3 earlier, couldn't find it now, hopefully it will be possible on the Ola.

Their special charger would indeed have to be quite special if it does something that Zero, Energica and Harley can't figure out.

Where did you read that? The article posted only mentions an external 750w charger. I assume the quick charging doesn't just use a higher wattage built in charger connected via type 1 because then the same could just be used for home charging via the mains. Also even though the battery capacity is quite low it would still need to be in the region of 7-8kW which doesn't sound reasonable.

It has a very small battery, so it's not anything Zero and Energica couldn't do.

Remember that Indian domestic voltage is 220V not 110V. Half the current needed for same charge input. So a common base 10A GPO can comfortably deliver 2.4KVA and a 15A ( still single phase) can deliver 3.6KVA.

If the production, price and performance mentioned in that article is true that is very impressive. But will they try to market the scooter in the U.S.?
